So very imposing! He really is a fantastic rendition of the character in doll form.

He really is a great likeness to the character.  I wish he was more poseable and flexible.

Dolls With Butterflies...
I was lying flat in the middle of my front yard when some people passing in a pickup slowed down to ask if I was OK -- too far away to see the camera, and people lying in their yards are not what one normally ex-pects to see!  As our world grows darker by the day, one little gesture of kindness stands out like the last little patch of sun I was chasing.

They look like they're holding a sweet conversation, or admiring each other's wings

Night time temps are forecast to plunge well below freezing within the next few days. Summer is done here!

I agree with dargo, this does seem to be a mutual admiring of the wings.

This was my 2nd-last butterfly. I have one straggler left who bizarrely was the only tiny larva left in the neighbour's garden -- usually they lay more eggs all at once. S/he is still in the chrysalis. They grow much more slowly when the temperature drops. We've had one light frost so far that may have screwed up my squash vines at 2C. UGH, I hate the thought of the cold coming!!
