Oooh, love the beach pictures! I'm not even much of a beach person, but I'm totally in love with your beach smile

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new June 27) - Elfy - 06-29-2021

I too love the beach pictures. Glad Darla could enjoy it a little. I’d love to live within walking distance of a beach.

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new June 27) - Alliecat - 06-30-2021

Thank you guys!  yay

A few more today: it was 29C so the couple of degrees cooler on the beach was nice, but it was also very high-UV sunny.

For the "Shark!" prompt:

No, girls, I don't think it will follow you up the beach... you can stop running.

"Pet Parade"

And, "Pool party".
We don't have a pool.

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new June 30) - Loona - 07-05-2021

I love the beach photos (and I really miss the beach. Last week we visited a pond in the nearby that's been "revamped" to look like seaside beaches - and it totally doesn't have the same feeling. It shows how much beaches are not about beach furniture for me, rather about see-through salty water and its appropriate inhabitants - none of these were available there). And I love your inflatable props! My girls also have two or three of these (we, too, have a flamingo), but a donut is still on the wishlist - I haven't yet found one I liked.

Aaaaah, all the 'dolls with flowers'-photos that I missed! Well, at least I could drool at them all at once now - it's a topic I can never get enough - both looking at and taking. I too took some in spring when the cacti were in bloom, I just never got around to edit them (just the usual lazy procrastinator Loona stuff slash ). I think I love Lila' 's wonderful photos with the crocussssssssessss the most, but Glori's shots come as a close second - she looks so cheerful, and the camera does love her indeed! I love the amount of purple flowers you have (and just the amount of flowers you have in general, too. Here it's starting to become too hot for flowers, and most are wilting - nowadays I mostly see flowers only in front of important places - like squares, government building and that sort - where they think of them as disposable decoration, and probably throw the wilted ones out and plant new ones every 2 weeks...). Are those lupins the same thing as those thumbnail-sized seeds people in some mediterranean countries eat with beer? I know this flower, but I wasn't aware this is what it's called. I remember colleagues bringing stuff also called lupins as snacks when they came back from a business trip, I liked them. They aren't available around here (the snacks, not the flowers).

As said on Fickr, I'm happy the little package arrived fine, and you and your dolls like the clips smile They were screaming "you" (and reminded me of the dress Catalina is wearing in these pics) when I came across them at the shop, so I had to get two sets and send one over to the other side of the ocean smile

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new June 30) - Elfy - 07-05-2021

The poor mermaid. When you're that size you don't need a real pool, a birdbath will do just as well.

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new June 30) - Lejays17 - 07-05-2021

Love them floating in tge birdbath. I’ve been looking at the blow-up floaty things for our giros, but haven’t found ones I like for a price I like.

The girls rnnung away from the Shark made me laugh. Poor mermaid girl.

Thanks, all!  smile

Wow, no!  But it was interesting to read about them; I'd never heard of them.  They are apparently in the same genus.  I also didn't know they were that widespread.  Once again, the forum is educational smile

A few pix from the August Dal House challenges:

Sunsette ex!pounds on her favourite subject, the age of sail.

And she loves this cabinet, but Penny thought the nautical shelf would have more mermaids.

We found a female squash flower, so we stuck some pollen in it.  If it takes though, this one's growing out of the compost bin which is plagued by slugs, so I'm not sure how I'll protect it.

Fertilizing in hopes the yellow leaves green up some.

For the open theme, we chose "DIY".  Sunsette figures chocolate fixes a lot of things, but Daesani advised that if that doesn't work, hit it with a wrench.
...hmmm, works for me.

Finally, for the "TV shows" theme, the minis are poring over one of our favourites.

Bookshelf pics are always fascinating. I'm wondering if you're read all of those seafaring books. The Way of a Ship sounds interesting - I just spent a fair bit of time reading about it online, and am tempted to purchase a copy. But it seems that I rarely get around to reading the books I purchase.

You actually individually pollinate the squash flowers? I saw the pic you posted about gathering pollen. That's dedicated gardening!

Hit it with a wrench is a surprisingly effective strategy. I "fixed" a recalcitrant well pump a few days ago by hitting... okay, tapping... the pressure cut-off switch with a wrench.

The tape measure, the smaller one near the front of the toolbox, reminds me of one my grandfather had, that's still around here in one of my toolboxes. Did some of those tools belong to your dad?

Did Sunsette tie all those knots in the case herself?

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new Aug. 31) - Elfy - 09-01-2021

Lejays shares the minis tastes in TV. She quite liked Farscape.

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but how does one tell that a squash flower is female?

They are, aren't they.  And yes, except I admit to not having read all of Harland -- it was a reference book for a project (well, most of them were).  And the Ramages are mid-series; I picked them up at a market but didn't get started at the beginning of the series so I haven't read them yet.

Yes, his workshop.  Mostly his stuff but there is a group of 'workshop spirits' he kidded about, from several other people's/previous generation's tools.

Of course she did! LOL

It's not a stupid question.  And I actually just learned about doing this last weekend, because I thought I was getting a lil squash in the new boxes, then it began to squizzle up, and I'd noticed a couple of the pumpkin flowers had a different shape, so I began to wonder if the flowers were single-sex.  Now I know why previous squashes that came up from compost seeds made flowers but never did anything else. The failed one didn't get pollinated.

Yay!  grin
I'm stretching out my re-watch, 2nd time through the whole series, for as long as I can make it last.  Any other universe is better than this one at the moment slash

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (new Aug. 31) - Elfy - 09-02-2021

Farscape is one of those things that is much better and easier to watch on DVD and the like, because they really messed about with the screening schedule, at least they did here. If it hadn't been a largely Australian production with local talent, I doubt it ever would have made it onto our screens.

I got quite frustrated trying to watch it on TV too, as it was on Saturday afternoons & kept getting pre-empted by baseball games, then aired around 4 a.m. or something like that, with no notice.  I didn't see S4 (and maybe some of S3?) till I got the DVDs.

Starting to catch up a bit... some pix of Aya's shoot.  I was hoping for more dramatic light but oh well.

And a couple more of Samantha from her Dal House shoot.
This one was for the poetry challenge: take a photo & write a poem of some sort about it.  In this case, we are thinking about the general state of things...

The Aya photos are quite striking. Your portrait photography skills are excellent!

The rainy day photos convey the gloomy greyness that I remember from growing up in Oregon.

RE: PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (Sept. 10) - dargosmydaddy - 09-12-2021

Aya is the epitome of glam!

Miki looks like she's going to dance with the butterfly smile

Samantha, meanwhile, does a really great job with the whole melancholy vibe.
