I'd vote for calling the octopus Paul, in honour of the German octopus that was very accurate at picking winning teams in the World Cup some years ago. If not, you could use Oscar. Oscar is a good octopus name, its alliterative.

Aww, they're so cute.

My favorite octopus name is Aristotle, because that's Addams family's octopus, but this one doesn't quite strike me as Aristotle. Hmm, naming an octopus is surprisingly hard!

Aww, such little cuties.

As for as name .... Clarissa?

Barring that, you could get -- I was going to say a fishing-gear buoy-swivel ring, from which my girls have a tire swing, (but, Loona, with a lack of seaside in Hungary, maybe a craft store would have a macrame ring that you could paint and fasten some cord to...?)...
Thanks for the info! And about the self-made option, that's actually pretty close to what I was aiming to do, but got lazy along the process grin I used a random ring I had at home, started to build it up, and the next step would have been painting it and adding some chord. Doesn't sound too difficult, but it didn't go as smooth as I thought it will, and I lost interest a little. I am still aiming to continue it at one point.

Ika's new friends look really cute, I especially adore the octopus with those little ear-like appendices. The colours look like a minty candy to me, so I'm thinking of names like Minty or Bubblemint?

I can't believe I just spent as long as I did looking up octopus species in order to name a plushie!!, hahaha.... looking for a name that would be a takeoff on his genus/species.  "Grimpoteuthis" isn't a very attractive name!  "Teuthi"?
Hmmm.
Maybe I'll have to look up some mythological octopus types or something.
Ha!  I hadn't heard about Paul.  Read the Wikipedia page LOL  A while back PBS's "Nature" did a fascinating program about octopuses.  They are really clever, apparently.  I do know, from nearly getting hauled into a tank in Hawaii, that they are very very strong!!  (OK, I exaggerate a wee bit; she didn't actually threaten to pull me in... but I did have trouble getting her to let go! LOL )

Anyway, a few of pix of Samantha from the Dal House "orange" challenge, and a few more from Sara's quick shoot today.

Sara is very much enjoying the bright weather.

I smiled when I saw Samantha. She's such a cutie, especially with those cute orange flowers. It reminds me when I pulled over into an emergency lane on a highway just to snap pictures of Audrae among a bed of bright orange wildflowers! LOL

Sara looks particularly cute in that top, too. Very tropical!

How about Flapjack or Jackie for a name if you haven't yet settled on one already? I've just recently learned that there's a cute species called Flapjack Octopus that also has these little ear-like appendices (YouTube video here).

I'm straight up green with envy hearing your octopus encounter - even if it was a little scary that she didn't want to let go. I'd love getting this close to an actopus someday. I did meet an octopus in the wild while swimming in the sea, twice even, but I didn't dare swim closer to them in fear of scaring them (which was an issue partly because I wanted to watch them for some more time, partly because I know they are strong and didn't want them to get scared in an aggressive way. I was swimming alone, with the husband out on the shore during both occasions).

You did so well in pairing the girls up with flowers that seem to be matching their personalities! Samantha seems so fond of the orange flowers, as if it was her cultivating them. And Sara is giving me tropical vibes too, and looks all relaxed. I know I mentioned this in another thread already, but I'm in love with her wig, I really like this shade of green (and it's so rarely seen!).

Thank you, everybody!
I'm envious of the wild octopus encounter.  The farm in Kona where I met "Sauerkraut" was trying to establish (unsuccessfully so far) a breeding program to take pressure off wild populations.  You got to see all the little outdoor facility, and feed try to coax them to come out and eat.
Sara's hair is kind of an unusual colour.  It looks nice in the sun.

Working through a backlog of photos here.  >sigh< between new(er) laptop & old laptop with older drive in it, it's got rather messy.  So here are some pix from recently. It's pretty much all Petra; I guess it was her turn.

Goes in the woods in white pants and still looks stylish.  That's how it's done, kids.

Why the alligator-hunt shot became a "night" flash shot.  The light was just not good here so the result wasn't sharp.

It didn't help that the setting was backlit.  Behind the scenes, trying to bounce every last photon back on the girls.

If you have never climbed a ladder to commune with sunflowers, I can recommend it as a worthwhile activity.  They are cheerful and friendly, and they smell nice yay
Mine are between 7 and 9.5 feet high -- I'm in awe -- so these were done handheld on top of a ladder.

Not to be outdone, here's Aloalo's contribution.  We made one chocolate haupia pie, and although the whipped cream was obviously an abject fail, it was still ono.

Finally, gearing up for her introductory photoshoot, new girl visits the wardrobe department.  Photos to come.

...whew.  Thanks for looking!  grin

I love Petra's relaxed stances in the first and third photos.

And those makeshift reflectors are total Heart 2

I love the way you make Petra’s actions look so natural. Petra also features on the PTFCo calendar this month channeling Julie Andrews from Sound of Music and I am in awe of how she holds the guitar naturally. I can’t even get the uke to look normal in their hands.

I love the light in the forest ones. Can't wait to see new girl's photoshoot!

Petra is brave to wear those white pants, but she looks adorable. Lea climbing the sunflower made me LOL. Can't wait to get a formal introduction (and a name?) for the new girl.
