So sweet how the girls were impatiently waiting.

Aw, how cute of the girls to wait so impatiently.

Aw, I hope the girls won't have to wait for too long - orchids aren't very fast in developing their buds into blooms, are they?

Aw! I love how they have their little Christmas dresses on. And the extra hand story made me LOL.

Interesting tale of wayward crawling hands... or crawling around looking for hands. And how lovely to have tropical foliage coming in to bloom as mid-winter approaches!
They're not dolls, they're action figures!

Thanks, everyone.  I have more flower photos to sort.  Hope to post them soon.  It is indeed wonderful to have a house full of green things when it's crappy & cold so much of the year.

Well, not as fast as some plants.  But then, some like phalaenopsis & dendrobiums will last literally months.

Today's photo is an example of how to not get the crapload of chores done that you were going to do today, because you thought of something that would be more fun.
...Yeah, I know it's an old meme now, but I saw a fun thing with a whole bunch of versions of it in different art styles, so I "had" to do a doll one.
Feel free to caption it smile

I'm so out of the loop, I think I must be approaching 'cool' from the other side. I had to google this. LOL

I'm so far out of the loop I wouldn't even know what to Google.

(Eventually figured it out.)

“Woman yelling at cat“… A lot of the captions don’t make much sense. I am surprised *I* get it, as I am generally not up on these popular Internet things.

Photodump comin' ...
My one pic of Howard and his flowers with the minis, turned into a whole long flower-show photoshoot with a bunch more orchids & dolls, when I saw how well they turned out with a black background.  (I'm sure the person who gave me that shawl-thing that totally isn't my style & I've never worn it anywhere, would be a bit bewildered at how I've ended up using it).  No such thing as an orchid show anywhere near where I live; boooo.... so the crew made their own.

Starting off with wee Lila, who doesn't quite match the dendrobium.

Robyn, with mini Oncidium Twinkle 'Red Fantasy', which came from a Calgary orchid show.  I had some fun (??) trying to pack that for travel in my suitcase.  It has a light but quite pervasive fragrance, very nice.

"Om...."  Communing with the flowers...

Next up, Catherine with an unnamed phalaenopsis, which unfortunately most of them are.

Isabelle's turn with the dendrobium:

Penny, with my very first orchid, Phalaenopsis Carmela's Pixie.  Got as a seedling before I quite knew what to do with one.  I waited 7 years for it to bloom.  Not only did it need time to grow up, it probably wasn't happy on the shelf in the bathroom. We moved; it got to live on a south windowsill, began blooming within 2 months, and has done so continuously since.

Rachel, with the most recent arrival, another anonymous phalaenopsis that had two big fabulous multi-branched spikes when I got it, and has struggled ever since with spotty leaves & possible crown rot.  I guess not all of them are happy with the climate either.  sad

Finally, we have wee Crystal Moana Kalikimaka Sugarplum, whose name is just as fancy as some of the orchid varieties, with another mini phal.

That's pretty well all that are blooming right now.  They sure brighten up the house in these gloomy months, but none of us are happy with the lack of sun.
Thanks for looking!  smile

What a beautiful, therapeutic batch of photos! I love how you paired dolls with the orchids, they make great teams!

I really like Moana with her purple flower.

Ahh, these are so calming to look at.

Beautiful! I love how we get a different doll posed with each flower. My favorite pictures include the last one (such a cute little lean), the "Om" one, and the one where Robyn looks like she's getting stabbed by a leaf smile

You certainly seem to have started the first orchid show in your area! Perhaps there are other closet orchid growers lurking on your island, and an orchid show would be a surprising success.

Well... it might have been in the olden days prior to having all that kind of stuff taken away from us forever.

I'm happy that we, here on the forum, are able to see your parade of pretties! And yes, the dark backdrop makes for quite striking flower photos! What did you use for lighting? It's a great set-up for bringing out the beauty of both flowers and dollies!
