Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - Loona - 12-09-2020 Snow is the main reason I consider winter my favourite season, despite the dark that I really dislike. I really love snow, and I cannot wait for it to finally arrive here. Sadly though, in the recent years it has become a rare and short-lived sight in my country - to compensate this, I decided to ease my cravings by requesting you to share your snowy dolly photos. If you live on a hemisphere where snow is an even rarer sight than it is here, please also feel free to post artificial snow or general winter-themed photos! ^^ I made the thread in the "Other Dolls/Figures" section because I'd like to encourage you to post any dolls or figures you have photos of - but please do include members of the Groove family too if you have pictures of them out in the white --- Let me start off with what appears to be the only snowy doll photo that I have taken and has made it past editing and out to the www. And I just realised that the snow isn't even obviously present in the background... Such a shame, because I have made some more photos of dolls out in the snow over the years - hopefully this thread might finally give me some encouragement to edit and share some of those. Plus, I'm looking forward to take photos also this winter - I only wish I'll get the chance! Una in the snow by ~Loona~, on Flickr RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - davidd - 12-09-2020 Outstanding head-body match between the Una Verse head and what appears to be a Monster High Abbey Bominable body. It is, isn't it? Even down to the shimmer. It never ceases to amuse me, and I really love how elegant Una looks on this body. RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - tasuke - 12-14-2020 here's an ancient one... a Snowsuit for my first ever Anime doll, TOYNAMI's 2001 "Tenchi Muyo!" princes Ayeka Masaki Jurai; and that was the much-improved second version. here's the initial one, from about 5/10 years earlier, around... 2004/2005-ish? RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - neon_jellyfish - 12-14-2020 I didn't remember having any wintery pics, but I do! Only two though, both with MH dolls. Prague doesn't get much snow. RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - davidd - 12-14-2020 Oh, neon's pic reminds me... I was inspired to copy her photo of Monster High Skelita: And here are a couple of Smart Dolls in the snow: And here's a Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale Flairy frolicking in a winter wonderland:
Well, okay, the Flairy is more like just standing there than actually frolicking.
RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - Lilcurly - 12-16-2020 Lovely snowy photos.. I'm a terrible wuss when it comes to the cold, so I'm afraid I don't have any snowy photos! But I'm enjoying admiring everyone elses RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - Loona - 12-17-2020 Aaaaah, thank you for sharing all the lovely photos, everyone! Please keep 'em coming! - Lilcurly, feel to admire away! One of the good things in such threads is that you get to see photos you don't/can't have ^^ @tasuke, I really like the snowsuits you've made for Ayeka! I'm not familiar with the character, did she have something like this in the anime, or is this a design you've come up with? The first one looks a little like combat/war snowsuits (just a lot more frilly and fashionable), and the second one makes her look like a fluffy bunny! <3 @neon_jellyfish, we also don't get that much snow either here in Hungary. It used to be more when I was a child - now I'm honestly happy if we have a few snowy days during the whole season, and since it doesn't seem to get/stay that cold anymore either, even if it falls, it usually melts away within a few days I love your Skelita in the sbow! And Abbey seems to be an obvious choice, isn't she? I too have photos of Signature Abbey in the snow (in my ginormous to-be-edited folder). @davidd, I can see why you'd copy Skelita in the snow - that's two super awesome things combined! I love your Smart Dolls in the snow, their bigger size makes for easier realistic photos. And I've already shared my love around your Flairy in your own thread, with that sparkliness and cool purple skin tone she seems very well-suited for a snowy scene. RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - davidd - 12-17-2020 How about some Bratz snow adventures? RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - neon_jellyfish - 12-17-2020 I love that Jade in the sea of white photo, it's very eerie! RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - Loona - 12-18-2020 Jade in white, in the white is fabulous! I also really like her in the Christmas elf-hinting outfit, under the tree. RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - Alliecat - 12-18-2020 Loona, I'd be happy to send you all the snow we ever have if it was a way to get rid of it! UGH, I hate the cold!! A fun variety of photos here. davidd, your Bratz could be honourary Canadians -- out in the snow in their shorts & t-shirts My enthusiasm for outdoor photography varies directly with the temperature, but once in a while I get a little ambitious. I actually have quite a few snow photos with various dolls. Starting with Charonne & Sunny with some fake snow... I took the first 4 J's out once for a photoshoot: Natalie & Robyn Charonne, Robyn & Sunny Robyn Then there were my little mountaineers: Petra They do not like shovelling. Daesani would rather throw snowballs at the person who suggested shovelling. "Oh, what the ****, man, with this 'winter wonderland'? Just, NO." Wow, I have a lot of photos with snow in them. I'll stop for now lest I spam. RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - davidd - 12-18-2020 I love the mountaineering and shoveling pics! RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! (wintery themes are welcome too!) - neon_jellyfish - 12-18-2020 Awww, absolutely enchanting! My favorites are all of them, but the snowball fight ones made me grin! RE: Show me your dolls in the snow! UGH, I hate the cold!! Please don't feel for a second that you are spamming - the more snowy photos, the merrier! ^^ Charonne & Sunny seem to be very good at skating, and I really like how natural their poses are, great job! The snowball fight photo is also really good, Sunny seems especially alive. Petra with the icicles is stunning, and Sunsette in the little snow tunnel managed to remain adorable even when she doesn't really seem to enjoy the circumstances ^^ I'd happily take your snow, thank you. Still nothing here - well, I'm refusing to count the one single evening when it was snowing for a few hours. In the dark. And the temperature wasn't cool enough for any of it to stay, even for a second. And even if it did, it happened during curfew hours, so I couldn't have gone out to enjoy it anyway I prefer photographing my dolls outdoors, but for me, the enthusiasm varies with the seasons - I love to take photos when there's a lot of green and flowers, so spring, and the majority of summer are fine. Autumn is completely out (I don't like autumn colours, nor do they match my dolls), and so it winter due ot its blankness - with the exception of snowy days. It's funny, but for some reason (even if I'm normally very chills) I never feel cold when there is snow, so it doesn't interfere with photographing (it must be a mind-thing) - what does interfere though, is the lens I use. Up until last year 2019, the zoom lens I owned was chillier than me, and worked very glitchily in cold weather (during our last winter together, it downright refused to work). Of course, the symptoms never showed when took it to have it repaired In the summer of 2019 I finally got fed up with it and replaced it - however, we had absolutely no snow last winter, so I couldn't try the new one out under below zero °C conditions. I hope I'll get to do it this year. |
