RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Alliecat - 12-26-2019 What werepuppy said -- I can hear "White Christmas" or something similar here! Fun shot. Glad you got the camera trouble sorted! RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Lejays17 - 12-26-2019 Both the shots with the Christmas lights are beautiful. I'm pleased you managed yto get a rreplacement of your favourite camera & could return the other one. RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - davidd - 12-26-2019 25 December – A Surprise Arrives at the Ameliæ Escadrille Ærodrome
"What is it?"
"Yeah, what is it?"
"It's a box, silly!"
"It's a big box!"
"It's a big silly box!"
"Is there anything in it?"
"I don't know! Maybe!"
"Yeah, maybe there's something in the box!"
"What could it be?"
"Maybe it's... a present!"
"Oooh!"
"Oooooooh!"
"Oooooooooooohhh!"
"A present!"
"Yay! Presents!"
"Not presents! A present! Just one present!"
"No... just one box... but it might have LOTS of presents inside!"
"Presents for ALL of us! YAY!"
"Wait! If this box is a present, it should be wrapped in pretty wrapping paper!"
"So it's not a present?"
"But I want a present!"
"I want a present, too!"
"Me too! I want a present!"
"If we WRAP the box, then the box will BE a present!"
"Or a gift. The box could be a gift!"
"But it's not wrapped, so it's not a present. Or a gift."
"Let's wrap it, then!"
"Yeah, let's wrap the box!"
"Let's GIFTwrap the box! Then the box will be a GIFT! Which is almost like a present!"
"Somebody get scissors!"
"We'll get the scissors!"
"Somebody get some tape!"
"I'll get some tape!"
"Somebody find some wrapping paper!"
"We'll find some wrapping paper!"
"We have the wrapping paper!"
"Is it GIFT wrapping paper?"
"Or PRESENT wrapping paper?"
"It's BOTH!"
"YAY!"
"We found the scissors!"
"Gift wrapping paper cutting scissors!"
"To cut the gift wrapping paper!"
"So we can wrap the gift!"
"So we'll have a present!"
"I found some tape!"
"Tape? Why do we need tape?"
"Didn't somebody say for somebody to find some tape?"
"Oh, yeah, somebody said for somebody to find some tape!"
"To tape the paper to the present!"
"Because if there's no wrapping paper on the present then it's not really a present!"
"And that's why we need the tape!"
"Ohhhh... that's why we need the tape!"
"Put the paper on the box!"
"You have to cut it first!"
"Cut the box? It's too big to cut!"
"No, the paper! Cut the paper!"
"And then tape the paper to the box!"
"So the box can be a present!"
"We still have some paper left!"
"Put the paper on the box!"
"We still have some tape left!"
"Put the tape on the paper that's on the box!"
"Then will it be a present?"
"No, it will just be tape!"
"When will it be a present?"
"It won't be a present. It will just be tape."
"But the tape will be on the present, right?"
"No, the tape will be on the wrapping paper."
"And the wrapping paper will be on the box!"
"And if there is wrapping paper on the box then the box must be a present!"
"PRESENTS! YAY for PRESENTS!"
Okay... that was exhausting.
TO BE CONTINUED....
RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Alliecat - 12-26-2019 OMG... I LOL'd all the way through this. How much eggnog went into this story?? I love the closeup photos right in the middle of the action and the way the dialogue so perfectly suits six of the same doll. It's like a ditzy hive-mind Something tells me that it would get very tiring being around this crew for very long. Also, if these pilots intend to actually fly somewhere, the navigation would be utterly hilarious. ...Heck, the pre-flight would be hilarious. Now you have to give them a blog of their own too, right? P.S. Very cute wrapping paper! RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Lejays17 - 12-26-2019 This is a fabulous story - I can’t wait fir the conclusion. I’m also surprised that one of them wasn’t taped to the box as an extra “present”. RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Elfy - 12-26-2019 Gotta love the Amelia hive mind. I was also surprised that at least one of them wasn’t also wrapped. RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - neon_jellyfish - 12-26-2019 Their logic is irrefutable! And I love that present-gift-wrapping paper! RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - werepuppy - 12-27-2019 Well, no one can fight with their logic. Or with them, I have a feeling... well ONE OF US would happen quickly. For they are legion RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - davidd - 12-27-2019 (12-26-2019, 04:04 PM)Alliecat Wrote: Also, if these pilots intend to actually fly somewhere, the navigation would be utterly hilarious. ...Heck, the pre-flight would be hilarious. That did actually happen, but the photographer failed to adequately capture the moment. (12-26-2019, 10:18 PM)neon_jellyfish Wrote: Their logic is irrefutable! Logic. Okaaayyyy, that's one word for it. (12-27-2019, 04:08 AM)werepuppy Wrote: Well, no one can fight with their logic. Or with them, I have a feeling... well ONE OF US would happen quickly. A legion whose numbers continue to grow! A veritable Legion of Dumb! Part II: "It's beautiful!"
"It's a beautiful present!"
"Look at the lovely gift wrap!"
"It is certainly a beautifully wrapped present!"
"I wonder who the present is for?"
"Yeah, who would be getting a present?"
"Who would be sending a present?"
"Who wrapped this beautiful present?"
"Who gets to unwrap this beautiful present?"
"What is it? What's inside?"
"Shake it! Does it rattle?"
"Can you see through the paper?"
"Is it heavy?"
"Is it light?"
"I hope it's not socks!"
"Can you tell if it's socks? Does it sound like socks when you shake it?"
"I think it's bigger than a box for socks."
"It could be lots of socks in a box!"
"Why don't we just open it and find out?"
" . . . "
"Erm... that was uncharacteristically direct."
"YAY! Let's open the present!"
"Take off the paper!"
"Take off the tape!"
"Where did all this tape come from?"
"This is a lot of tape!"
"This is a lot of paper!"
"Can you tell what it is?"
"I can't tell what it is! Can you tell what it is?"
"It's a present!"
"Or a gift!"
"You can tell because of all the wrapping paper!"
"Colorful wrapping paper! Like for a gift!"
"Or a present!"
"It looks like... a box!"
"I thought it was going to be a present!"
"We took off the paper, and under the paper it's a box!"
"Is the present a box?"
"Or is the present inside the box?"
"Yeah, sometimes presents come in boxes... right?"
"Boxes wrapped in paper!"
"Like this one!"
"Like this one was."
"Until we took the paper off!"
"So it's still a present... right?"
"Uhm... I think so! I think it's still a present!"
"LET'S OPEN THE BOX!"
"THE BOX THAT'S ACTUALLY A PRESENT!"
"But no dynamite this time. Remember what happened to your hair."
"Oooh! What is it?"
"It's a box!"
"It's a box inside of a box!"
"So it must be Chinese!"
"What?"
"You know, like those Chinese dolls - dolls inside of dolls inside of dolls!"
"I think you mean Russian dolls! Russian nesting dolls!"
"Like nesting birds?" Bird nest dolls?"
"Is that like bird nest soup?"
"You can't eat soup out of a bird nest!"
"The soup is made from bird nests!"
"You're totally making that up!"
"No I'm not! It's a Chinese delicacy! Like those dolls!"
"They eat dolls in China?"
"We'd better not go there, then!"
TO BE CONTINUED.... (This wasn't actually supposed to be a story break, but I have been interrupted while posting and must step out for a bit, so... another cliffhanger. Probably just as well. Things seem to be going downhill fast.) RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - neon_jellyfish - 12-27-2019 I mean, it can't be anything else than another Amelia, but this is so much fun, I'm on the edge of my seat, wondering what will come next! RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - werepuppy - 12-27-2019 Oh gosh, this is way too much fun. They're quite a scatter brained lot, aren't they? RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Elfy - 12-27-2019 No, I like the suspense. I think I know what’s in the box within a box that may or may not also be a present, but it’s still fun watching the Ameliae struggle with this. RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - Alliecat - 12-27-2019 Aaaaahhhh, suspense!! I think I know too... Oh dear, they have no short-term memory either??? Now I really want to see them try to fly somewhere Actually, I thought that once they got the box unwrapped, they'd think it wasn't a Present anymore, so they would decide to wrap it again Things seem to be deteriorating. They were more organized and coherent when #6 arrived (and #? burned her hair). Is there some kind of consciousness feedback loop?, a critical mass of Ameliae that makes their ability to think break down...? (12-27-2019, 06:12 AM)davidd Wrote: These are very good ideas! Rewrapping the unwrapped present came very near to happening. I realized that there are only a few days left in the year, so I briefly stepped in and redirected their attention. Consciousness feedback loop! That made me laugh! Yes, that must be the ex-planation, a consciousness feedback loop which rapidly amplifies interference and noise. Part III 27 December – The Ordeal of the Box Continues
"It's a big box! A big white box!"
"A big white box inside an even bigger brown box!"
"A big white box inside an even bigger brown box that was wrapped in colorful paper!"
"WAIT! This ISN'T a big white box! It's a big box wrapped in white paper!"
"YAY! It's a box wrapped in paper!"
"Which means..."
"IT'S A PRESENT!"
"But... how do you know it's not a WHITE box?"
"We can't see the box, because it's wrapped in white paper!"
"So it might be a white box!"
"A white box wrapped in white paper!"
"Open the present!"
"Open the big white present!"
"Take off the white paper!
"Oooh! It's a box!"
"But it's not a white box!"
"Awww... I thought it would be a white box!"
"A big white box full of lots and lots of socks!"
"Will they be white socks?"
"No. It's not a box of socks because it's not a big white box!"
"YAY! We did not want our present to be a big white box with lots of white socks!"
"Look!"
" . . . "
" . . . "
" . . . "
"Okay, I'm tired of looking."
"Yeah, because... what are we supposed to be looking at?"
"There are WORDS on the box!"
"Oh! There are words on the box!"
"A box that talks!"
"Not talking words. Reading words!"
"Oh... that kind of words."
"Those kinds of words, you mean."
"I'm not allowed to say those kinds of words."
"Me either. Soap tastes nasty!"
"Read the words! Read the words! What do they say?"
"... bunny ... bunny ... bunny ... and bunny!"
"Those aren't words, those are pictures!"
"They could be pictographs! 'A pictorial symbol for a word or phrase,' or so sez Wikipedia!"
"Okay, okay, whatever! What do the words-words say?"
"These words look strange!"
"They look kind of Chinese!"
"They look kind of Russian!"
"They look kind of..."
"... STRANGE!"
"What do the strange words say?"
"Ah... mel..."
"Emily?"
"Yes! The strange words say 'Emily!'"
"Emily? How... strange!"
"JUST TO BE CLEAR: That box does NOT say 'EMILY' and I have NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER to these ridiculous shenanigans!"
"Well... I guess the words do not say 'Emily'!"
"Maybe the words say... Rosamond!"
"I HEARD THAT!"
TO BE CONTINUED... (Because I can only take so much of this each day! And this story seems to have spiraled out of my control!) RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2019 - neon_jellyfish - 12-28-2019 I'm afraid they're about to start a fire by sheer power of friction produced by their attempts to think... |
