RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (new arrival Oct. 26) - Loona - 11-06-2020 Always lovely to see J-dolls! Congratulations on your newest arrival - she looks classy and royal! I really like the colour coordination in your photos, and she looks so at home with those autumn colours. I really struggle with doll photos (or any photos really) during autumn because the colours and my taste (and thus my dollies) just don't match. RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (new arrival Oct. 26) - Alliecat - 11-06-2020 Thanks, everyone! I need to do more photos of the J's. I keep saying that... sigh... I like the warm autumn colours as backdrops, but, it's coming to the time of year when I also struggle with outdoor photos because it's cold & gloomy. (We had a bleepin' snowstorm this week. I mean, it's melted now, & warmer, but, UGH ![]() RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (new arrival Oct. 26) - Lejays17 - 11-06-2020 She’s lovely. I particularly like the two shots with the flowers, both the asters & the daisies. Congrats on winning the photo contest. RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Oct. 5) - Alliecat - 10-06-2024 Well, what a sad state the forum is in, that pretty much everyone on this thread is no longer here. Basically 2 regulars left, and this thread is 4 years old (!?!?!!!!), but it's mine, dangit, so I'm gonna necro it and put some photos here. Charonne & Robyn with the last 2 Monarch hatchlings of the season. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Oct. 5) - davidd - 10-07-2024 Nicely crafted wooden stairs, with rounded edges on the planks. Dag-nabbit, you might be forcing me to up my game! I need to figure out how to rebuild some deck stairs since my deck replacement project has resulted in the deck being a different height. I can't believe you're still getting butterfly hatchlings up there in the frozen north! Butterflies are long gone here, as are the hummingbirds; and most of the migratory birds seem to have passed through. The lizards are dormant. Things are beginning to look prematurely bleak and near-wintery already. Love the late afternoon golden sunlight in these pics. You used the light well even as it rapidly faded. The J-Dolls are cute, as are their costumes. Are those the stock outfits... including that fun purple glitter hat... which looks like it could be converted in to a safari helmet with relatively little work? Yeah, I don't know where everybody went. Sometimes I think that it must be me who drives everyone away from the forums. But if I stop posting, will they come back? I doubt it. (I know that at least one of the formerly active members of this forum grew weary of my quasi-political anti-gub'mint grumbling during the COVID/vax times and unfollowed and blocked me on Instagram; so maybe I am a contributor to the forum exodus.) Four years flies by like almost nothing, and as you say, it's your own topic, so necro away! I don't think anyone is gonna complain! Besides, the topic wasn't dead, merely dormant! RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Sept. 14) - Alliecat - 09-15-2025 Kinda sad that it's been almost another year since this topic had a post. The J's really don't get enough camera time. "Some day" I'll have room for a proper cabinet that doesn't hide them, and maybe I'll be inspired to photograph them more. Aislinn & Charonne both came nude years ago; I'd still like to find Charonne's outfit because I really like it, but finally at least here is Aislinn's. Got it from someone on the FB J-Doll group who bought a stock doll & wanted to re-dress her. The boots & stockings are from Aliex-press & are a close match for the originals, which the seller wanted. There is also a little holster & gun, but the pleather holster straps are all apart and I'll have to figure out how to put them back together properly. Not sure glue will help; the velcro tabs just peeled right off their backing. Pleather should be BANNED. Anyway, here she is in a few quick snaps out back. ![]() Everything but the holster is well made, including the cute little bag, and yes you can open it & put things in it. ![]() There was a bit of rust on the hat clip, but I steel-wooled it as best I could; it'll do. ![]() Actually pretty glad the seller wanted to keep the boots. The orginals are pleather. Good luck with that!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Missed the good light, yet again... sigh. Oh well. Thanks for looking! RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Sept. 14) - davidd - 09-15-2025 I love this look! Kind of a sci-fi battle babe! She'd fit right in with my Star Patrol characters, Danni Dare and Lyra the Creep! Those replacement boots are nice. The velour should last a lot better than pleather. Does the jacket have "posing wire" in the hem? RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Sept. 21) - Alliecat - 09-22-2025 Nope, no wire. It's just cut/sewn to flare out like that. The suede-y boots are the same make as many of the crew's shoes, most of which came from Mimiwoo. They're so well made. The girls have way more shoes than I do. I shot a lot of pictures this week, mostly prompted by a bunch of Monarch hatchlings. I only had 9 this year. Should have been on the ball and got some more from the lady down the road earlier.... but I don't walk down there much anymore. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I love this dress on her. ![]() ![]() ![]() Probably can't see without a zoom-in on the original-size photo, but she has butterfly dust on her face! ![]() RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Sept. 21) - davidd - 09-23-2025 Lovely photos in nice lighting. Looks like the sunshine cooperated with you for a few moments. It's always fun to see your butterflies. I did not see any monarchs around here this entire summer. I only saw a swallowtail twice. I can't make out the "butterfly dust," but the sparkling jewelry is a fun effect! Do you have milkweed growing wild on your property? RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Sept. 21) - Alliecat - 09-23-2025 (09-23-2025, 01:29 AM)davidd Wrote: I can't make out the "butterfly dust," but the sparkling jewelry is a fun effect! That one was hand-held, with a little maneuvering to get the sparkle ![]() No milkweed. I actually brought some from Ontario when we moved, carefully dug out of the back garden, but, the deer destroyed it in a few years. A neighbour down the road has the milkweed garden. RE: Alliecat's J-dolls (Sept. 21) - TrueFan - 09-23-2025 This photo is amazing. ![]() |
