RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - dargosmydaddy - 02-20-2020 Ooh, can't wait to see what the final destination is! RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Alliecat - 02-23-2020 “Hey everybody! “Hello from Nanaimo BC. Mum is housesitting for a couple of weeks so we’re ex!ploring the area. This morning she took us driving around looking at million-dollar houses, and then we stopped at Westwood Lake. Mount Benson is in the background. It’s 10°C, flowers are coming up, rhododendrons have buds, there are hummingbirds everywhere… We are all asking why the f*^{$$&\^*$$$$ we live in New Brunswick. “Love, Sunsette “ RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - werepuppy - 02-23-2020 Oh, that does look really beautiful RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Lejays17 - 02-23-2020 Looks wonderful! Did you see any houses suitable for living in? The lakeshore looks very inviting, RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Elfy - 02-23-2020 No palm trees, but there is a beach. RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - neon_jellyfish - 02-23-2020 It's a very beautiful place. RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - davidd - 02-24-2020 That's what the weather was like in Oregon this past week, altho' I did not see any hummingbirds. I returned home to a snowstorm last night. Million dollar houses. That's probably why you live in New Brunswick and not on Vancouver Island. RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Alliecat - 02-25-2020 “Hello again! “Greetings from Saltspring Island! Here we are in Ganges Harbour and we found BOATS!!! Actually, we found boats, airplanes, ocean, and mountains all in the same view! Mum says that makes it just about perfect. She took us day trippin’ over to the island and we had an interesting day driving around looking at things. Unfortunately there was not a lot of public beach access and the road up the mountain was not suitable for a little rental car, so we didn’t get a lot of pictures of us. We’ll have a couple of fun ones to share when Mum can download them. “Lejays, yes, we did see some pretty nice houses, but the density is insane. Mum doesn’t even want to SEE the neighbours’ windows, let alone have them 10 feet away! “Did I mention the climate?? On the return ferry crossing tonight one of the crew was wearing SHORTS! “Love, Sunsette ” RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Lejays17 - 02-25-2020 Sounds like a great day was had, with boats AND scenery. and LOL at the crew member wearing shorts on the ferry crossing. RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - neon_jellyfish - 02-25-2020 Sunsette in her little sailor outfit fits in the scenery so well! RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - werepuppy - 02-25-2020 Sounds like a fantastic day! Also Sunsette does look adorable in her little sailor outfit. RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - davidd - 02-26-2020 Fun times exˆploring parts of Vancouver Island that I've never even heard of! An island offshore from an island! RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Elfy - 02-26-2020 Glad you’re getting some nice short wearing weather. RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - Alliecat - 02-29-2020 “Hi again, everybody! Thanks for following our adventures! I’m not sure you could call it shorts weather; it was only a few degrees, But yeah, we’ve seen lots of shorts and T-shirts so it’s pretty nice. davidd, if you look on a map you will see tons of little islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland. These are flooded mountaintops from millennia past! The islands are all quite hilly. “Yesterday Mum took us to Anmonite Falls, which gets lots of promotion in the tourist literature and is absolutely not as advertised. It isn’t under any circumstances ’an accessible trail perfect for any level of hiker’. It’s very steep, the trail is not as well marked as it could be, and the descent to the bottom of the gorge is nearly vertical. This hike involved one of Mum’s typical ‘detours’ in which she scrambled down one of said vertical slopes to end up in the bottom of the gorge with no view of the falls at all. At the actual falls there are ’trail closed’ signs and this is all you can see – the top. “At least, the one thing we were glad was not as advertised was that there weren’t any cougars or bears, mentioned on the trail sign! “Love, Sunsette ” RE: The Adventures of Sunsette -- Dispatches from the field - davidd - 02-29-2020 Sounds like you turned a not-as-advertised venture in to an adventure! |
