That is pretty cool! smile
It would be fun to try to track it with a telescope. I recall I got a kick out of watching the first Crew Dragon go by chasing the ISS shortly after they launched.
Thanks for posting it.

Ah, the dolly repairs just never end. I would love to have such a diligent crew.

Tracking the rockets from here with a telescope would be challenging because the rockets rise and disappear quickly. Good binoculars, however, reveal considerable detail and are reasonable to manage.

Here's an interesting, and tangentially related, online blog post about proper quotation attribution:

Because Internet rabbit-holes.

LOL

RE: davidd’s A DOLL A DAY 2022 - Alliecat - 11-28-2022

Yeah, you'd have to swing the telescope pretty quickly. I've tried it with planes. Not too successfully. But if the rockets are in decent binocular range, then that's cool!

I don't believe your crew is ever pau. Tongue

Great perspective here; she doesn't look that small. My favourite is the one with the seashells, just the way the composition lines lead your eye.

Okay... that was a real head-scratcher! My first impression was that you are taking your Glorious Leader's Great Reset demands to heart and shifting your diet to weeds and bugs. Then I read the rest of the sentence and it made more sense.

More sense to a point. Where do you get the fruit flies... in Canada... in the winter? Have you been raising those, too? Laying the groundwork for a carnivorous plant nursery?

Once in a great while I see Venus Flytraps for sale in the greenhouse section while shopping, and I'm always tempted. I haven't had one since I was a little kid, when the one we had didn't last very long. I don't know that I would have the facilities to properly care for one, though, when it came to managing temperature and humidity.

Yeah, but she fit in the available space. I'm sure everything will be fine. It's only 110 volts.

If you want to raise a carnivorous plant, Saracena purpurea might be a good selection.

For, uh, reasons.

The shells were nice! I have not seen many intact shells on this beach, but there are lots of interesting broken bits!

The Dolly Market Forum may be slow, but the conversations that arise are endlessly fascinating.

Or maybe they're just weird.

29 November – Pinky Street Beach Days are the Best Beach Days!

Be advised, there are reasons to avoid using an ex-pensive camera and high-end collector dolls for water-related beach photos.

Fortunately, I was using a water resistant camera and Pinkys are competent swimmers.

That first shot is gorgeous. The foam, the shells... wow.

It's currently 36 degrees here, so I'm living vicariously through the Pinkys...

RE: davidd’s A DOLL A DAY 2022 - Alliecat - 11-30-2022

I love that photo too, especially that you captured the little splash in the background.
Oh dear! Pinky did the faceplant that I ex-pected with Yasmin.
Are you crawling around on the beach with these?

There are some pitcher plants in one of the bogs here. I had some fun photographing the flowers once upon a time. There were also tiny sundews in a tiny spot along my favourite trail, but last time I went it looked like the ever-destructive ATVs had widened the trail enough to demolish them sad

Nice to "see" you, fishy! Come back and hang out with us smile

Thanx! I got lucky with the pic, but I'm happy with it!

Yes.

You have sundews and pitcher plants growing wild on your island? I've never seen sundews in the wild, and I haven't seen pitcher plants since I was a kid! Now I really wanna live where you live!

Except, yeah, the ATVs can be really annoying!

Well, according to your rules for doll-a-day, of course it counts.
Trying to figure out how you still got cool lighting with this, and didn’t have the whole desktop lit up. Did you take a reading on the lightbulb?

Yes, I used a point-n-shoot camera, but measured ex-posure directly on the bulb. I should have tried different ex-posure compensation settings, but I didn't, 'cuz, as noted, this was kind of a rush job. Then I tweaked the contrast and black point in the photos software on the computer. I don't have the skills or the software to do a lot of fancy editing but I often use the slider controls to adjust ex-posure and to enhance contrast and saturation.

Well, your “rush job“ lighting worked.
The girls look cute sitting on top of the fridge. Dudes probably shouldn’t be allowed to decorate Tongue

3 December - Photo-Story: Behind the Scenes

I'm attempting to make a photo story. The "screenplay" ended up being much longer than I ex-pected or intended, so it's gonna be an enormous project. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend, or by early next week, but considering it's already Saturday night....   slash

RE: davidd’s A DOLL A DAY 2022 - Alliecat - 12-04-2022

I'm looking forward to seeing the photostory. I often end up with longer stories than I intend, too.
