RE: Werepuppy's (Attempt At) Doll-A-Day 2019! - davidd - 08-03-2019

What will happen when Small Head Rey meets Big Head Rey? Is trouble ahead? Will head games ensue?

Will they double-team against Kylo-Ben?

If there is one thing that Rey is good at, it's handling emo edgelords.

Good question! ... I don't know yet. Generally speaking in the Room, I try not to involve doubles unless I can make it work narratively. I will... need to ponder this carefully.

215. A Trio of Rey

Just wanted to compare/contrast the three versions of Rey I have. On the far left is the Disney Store Premium Figure version, middle is Hot Toys, and to the right is the offering from Hasbro's Forces of Destiny line.

The Disney Store offering probably has the most in terms of articulation and inital affordability, but since that was a limited run it would be harder to track down now. You can probably find the Forces of Destiny one fairly cheap now. This version in particular was in the two-pack with the emo edgelord, but there is a solo version and a version that comes with BB-8.

They make a very nice army! The Hot Toys one is exquisite, but I like the FoD's outfit the best.

A... Solo version?   LOL

This is quite interesting seeing the three versions from three manufacturers in a direct comparison shot.

Their belts are all pretty cool!

You need a Pop! Rey to complete the collection.

Interesting comparison. I've seen a variety of figures that looked pretty good until I saw the Hot Toys version, and then "wow". Again I'm curious about the durability of other Hot Toys vs. Jake... does she seem fairly sturdy?

Nice comparisions between the 3 figures - such a difference in their faces & outfits.

I only wish her trousers weren't just molded plastic...

If only that wasn't a surname in this verse, there's so many potential jokes LOL.

I'm not actually sure which company made the Disney Store one, it was only marked Disney Store.

In terms of belts, the Hot Toys version is quite thin feeling? The Hasbro version is probably going to be the best in terms of long term wear.

You ... are probably right. I should have added my S.H. Figuarts Rey to this line up but she would look so tiny in comparison to them all...

I think Hot Toys tend to win on the "wow" factor every time - I've rarely seen one of their figures out done. I would say Rey seems fairly sturdy, yeah. She's on the TrueType body with visible articulation so that means I don't have that worry of accidentally doing something wrong. Then again, there's the whole making sure I don't bend too much because plastic can be weakened over time.

(Actually, your Jake is the only Avatar themed Hot Toys I've ever seen...)

It's always really interesting to me to see how the same character can be interpreted in what is basically the same scale. It can be such a huge difference.

216. Hot Toys Comparison
[Image: 58193646_2224aa0c5293e4c94ee45fdbb6267199_standard.jpg]
Just comparing my two Hot Toys. More in terms of body types. Diana is on what I believe to be a TBLeague seamless figure, while Rey is on a TrueType body with double joints at knees and elbows. The seamless body is heavier due to the steel skeleton internal jointing, and personally I find it harder to pose. But that could be because I'm not used to it, yet.

Most notable thing here is the height difference which feels very true for the characters - Diana is an Amazon, she should be really tall. They're both really amazing figures, and I consider myself so lucky to have them.

With this concentration of superheroes and badass beauties, The Room must be the safest place in Europe!

RE: Werepuppy's (Attempt At) Doll-A-Day 2019! - davidd - 08-05-2019

Interesting that despite the height difference, the scale of the figures relative to one another seems believable.

And yet I somehow keep injuring myself... LOL

I think this is one of the rare cases where the height difference between figures does not odd? Like you said, it seems believable, and yet with some it can just highlight that they're toys.

Ooo, ooo, I know this one, I know this one!!! Everybody Wants to Be a Cat is my favorite Disney song!

RE: Werepuppy's (Attempt At) Doll-A-Day 2019! - davidd - 08-06-2019

O'Malley the Alley Cat, featuring the vocal stylings of the inimitable Phil Harris.

O'Malley is not entirely in his element when wearing a starched collar and necktie.

Loved that film as a kid, does this mean we get Disney’s Robin Hood (the best version committed to film) next?

RE: Werepuppy's (Attempt At) Doll-A-Day 2019! - Lejays17 - 08-06-2019

Ooh, I hope the next Disney figurines are from Robin Hood, it’s been fun seeing all the others so far.

Nice comparisons of the two Hot Toys figures, like others said, they do look in proportion even given the height difference.
