I've never seen a Pinky Street in real life, are they totally fixed figures, or do their heads move?

24 July – "And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids!"

The initial idea was for a plain photo illustrating the minor differences (green eyes on the left, brown eyes on the right, and outfit color) between two version of the same Pinky Street figure, PK003 and PK003B Tamae. But the girls got adventurous, and decided to explore the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town....

The concept behind Pinky Street figures was "mix-and-match." Most Pinky figures disassemble into the following basic parts: head, upper body, legs, skirt, hair-front, and hair-back. They often include small accessories, like the bow tie seen here, or purses and handbags (not pictured).

The pieces from every Pinky Street release are interchangeable with every other Pinky Street figure, allowing outfits, hairstyles, and accessories to be swapped in a nearly endless variety of ways.

The last three or four "series" of releases, from Series 9 through Series 11 (starting with PK025), were molded of a lower grade vinyl and the size of the figures was slightly smaller, so the compatibility of the pieces is not always consistent with older figures. But all the figures up through Series 8 (PK024) have seamlessly swappable parts and accessories.

The figures stand about 10cm (4 inches) tall.

One cannot go adventuring without a plushie-talisman, right? Great photo.

Pinky Street figures are less expensive now on eBay than they were when they were originally released. Just sayin'....

Some of the later Pinky Street figures, like this one, featured a ball-joint at the neck, allowing for subtle posing of the head. The ball-joint also necessitated a slight redesign of the faces, making them appear rounder or chubbier. The articulation "gimmick" was not enough to save the Pinky Street line. By the time the four Haruhi Suzumiya figures were released, Pinky popularity was in sharp decline. These figures may be readily found on eBay, usually for considerably less than their original list price.

That staircase is just perfect! Maybe for bigger dolls/figures, but perfect!

RE: davidd's A Doll A Day 2018 - Alliecat - 07-28-2018

That's interesting to see their parts. I can see how one could get hooked on them. They're kinda like what Nendoroids want to grow up to be smile The photos are fun.

Like the shot on the staircase, you've got such interesting interior backgrounds.
