PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#9, Feb. 22) - Alliecat - 01-03-2026 Well, a new year is underway. I have even less motivational inspirational anything to say this year. Maybe I'll think of something and come back and edit. We had Christmas, and New Year's, and now it's 2026. OK, whatever. Just keep on goin I guess. Kick at the darkness. ![]() Missed focus; I dunno what happened here other than that maybe the camera froze and didn't feel like being out there any more than I did... the wind chill is minus a million and I already had numb fingers & toes from half an hour of digging out the car. Didn't finish the shovelling, but went back out for a dolly photo. Priorities, right??
RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! - davidd - 01-03-2026 You're more ambitious than I am! I barely made it outside to snap a blurry shot for A Doll A Day today because a chill wind was blowing. No snow here yet, but it's coming. The festive lighting more than makes up for any soft focus... which is probably a result of your shivering. Kick at the darkness -- good way to put it. That's why I keep plugging along with doll photos. Honestly, I'm feeling like I could curl up and stop breathing with no regrets at all. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! Maybe the tripod was shivering too. I don't especially love the song, but I love that line. Bit of a mantra on keeping going. ![]() Celeste & Petra on the little lighthouse at the housesit. It was too cold to spend more than about 10 minutes outside. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#2, Jan. 9) - davidd - 01-11-2026 Neat! Maybe I should try to build an outdoor lighthouse out of wood. I have "build a Pinky Street lighthouse" on my abbreviated goals list for this year. I see by this model that a miniature lighthouse doesn't need to be hyper-realistic in order to get the general idea across. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#3, Jan. 14) - Alliecat - 01-15-2026 A lighthouse model would be fun. "Some day" I still want that Real Good Toys one... No, it doesn't have to be very realistic. The Maritimes are full of little lighthouse decorations in yards, often as wellhead covers. I've seen one made of stacked flowerpots. They didn't even bother to paint windows on it, if I recall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lookit this babe. Having finally got photos awhile back of Daesani & Yuki together in their samurai outfits (dangit, why didn't I do light sabers then!)... I finally changed Yuki out of her stock for the first time. Isn't she a cutie!
RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#3, Jan. 14) - davidd - 01-16-2026 I don't know if she's exactly happy being dressed up all girly-style! Looks like there might be an adjustment period required! Nice outfit, though. Shall I say anything about the pink poodle? Maybe... not right now. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#4, Jan. 19) - Alliecat - 01-20-2026 Heh, I think she looks ready to rumble no matter what she's wearing ![]() Her pal Rose arrived with her and follows her on her adventures. ![]() Noelle appears less bothered by the snow than I am. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#4, Jan. 19) - davidd - 01-20-2026 Well, this is an absolutely gorgeously beautiful series of snow photos, with perfect ex-posure in all the highlights. Simply superb! RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#5, Jan. 28) - Alliecat - 01-29-2026 Thank you ![]() Petra & Celeste got the pic-a-week call again this week, because most everyone else is still wearing their holiday party dresses, and sweaters are at least close to being dressed for the -13ish temperatures. In the latest dump of snow, I have spent 3 1/2 hours shovelling in 2 days, all of it a 2nd time after it kept coming, and some of it to "fix" the insufficiently wide space Snowplow Man left for me to [try to] get the car out of the garage. UGH!!!
RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#5, Jan. 28) - davidd - 01-30-2026 Oh, man! That is a lot of snow. Out on da island, you don't usually get that much snow at a time, do you? Is your climate somewhat moderated by the surrounding sea? At least you have the strength and stamina to shovel! Keeps ya spry! Your helpers look cheerful and colorful. They don't seem to mind. What cute snow-shoveling outfits -- much more fun than the dull coveralls my dolly helpers have to settle for. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#6, Feb. 4) - Alliecat - 02-05-2026 We get a few snowstorms a winter, although often the wind goes around the compass and it might melt soon. In this case, not. And we do tend to get rain when the mainland gets snow, often. The water is just reaching its coldest around now, assuming the patterns I learned about years ago are still happening, and it won't reach its warmest till the end of summer. So of course that means cold late springs. And yes, I VERY often remind myself that I am able-bodied enough to go out and bitch about the snow and cold. ********************** ![]() Marilyn got a spa day after I finally got fed up with her messy hair. Then she got a photoshoot. She looks much neater. Yay! RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#6, Feb. 4) - davidd - 02-06-2026 Now Marilyn is set for adventure in her cute little cap! She can venture out in to the storm and get windblown again... because I'm sure she enjoyed the Spa Day and would be happy to have another! The red and blue is a fun colour scheme. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#6, Feb. 12) - Alliecat - 02-13-2026 Heh, yeah, I'd like to have a spa day too ![]() ![]() Noelle & Cygnie. RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#6, Feb. 12) - davidd - 02-15-2026 So pretty! Bangles and beads and all manner of shiny! Did you really take them outside? And the wind didn't whip their hair in to a frizzled frazzled frenzy? RE: PrettyTiny Film Company Pic-A-Week **2026**! (#8, Feb. 19) - Alliecat - 02-20-2026 I don't take them out when it's windy! ---------------------------- ....the stuff I do for doll photography. Squatting in the garage side door with the camera aimed over the threshold and some big plastic bags to lie on, and it's -4 degrees. Ugh. Thanks to (so I've been told) the doofus builder doing the grade wrong beside the garage, every year the snow melts toward the house and I wind up with a patch of ice outside the door (and inside the door too, usually). No point putting salt on it; the next day of melt will just re-freeze. So I might as well do something creative with it, right?
