Fun action pix! Did any of them go for the red pirate outfit rather than the feeder?
Hoping the brunt of the storm remains well offshore!

Wow, what an awesome series of pictures!
Hope you (and the dolls, and the hummingbirds) have weathered the storm OK.

So cool that you're getting Monarchs hatching!
The hummers are all gone here, too. And freezing nights are beginning to finish off the wildflowers.
Nice autumnal sun-sitting-lower-in-the-sky lighting.

Aw! They look adorable with their new friend.
I wonder if the butterfly had wing envy

Ah, I missed the "butterfly session." I'm always impressed that you get so many to pose with you.
The butterfly pics make me miss living in Hawaii even more. There was a Giant Milkweed bush (called Crown Flower in Hawaii) in the yard that had a jillion caterpillars every year... until a fungus infected the bush and killed it. It was more a tree than a bush, taller than the house. So amazing.
I love love love the lighting on the tree swing pics! You have true skill to capture pale dolls in dark settings without overe osing the highlights.
And the "look at me" daredevil pic is hilariously fun!
I take it there are fewer mosquitos now? Or did you require a transfusion after your forest photo session?

Thanks so much
Yes, fewer mosquitoes. But, still a few. It's been down to minus-1 and they STILL aren't dead -- WTF!!
Some of those swing photos actually needed a ton of work to fix the difficult lighting. I always swore I'd never get into "digital manipulation"... I still try to do as little as possible. You didn't see all the totally washed-out dark-setting ones!!
The Crown Flower sounds marvellous. Do you have any photos of it? I remember being thrilled to find out there were Monarchs in Hawai'i.
It's not hard to get them to "pose" when they're just hatched, because they aren't ready to fly. It takes hours for the wings to really harden. And then if it's cooler as it usually is when I shoot these, they're not too energetic either. I think it has to be about 13C for them to get warm enough to fly.
Speaking of butterflies... a few more...
Sorting out some old photos after my laptop had a paroxysm and rearranged ALL the desktop icons (WHYYYY????)... so here's a memory of some (slightly) warmer weather and a few more pix of Abbi from a shoot I did a while ago.

Oh, wow! Abbi is posed like a real person, a real life "giant butterfly handler." This could be some sort of cool, fun sci-fi movie scene!
The setting against the golden fall foliage works very nicely to create an autumnal color scheme that works with the orange & black of the wings.
Really super fun and gorgeous photos!

Beautiful! And I think I've said this before, but I adore Abbi's wig.

Could be some photodumps comin', as I try to get through a ridiculously long backlog of photoshoots never fully sorted and edited. I'd take a bunch for pic-a-week, pick and post one, then not get round to doing the rest.
So here are a few from various times past.
Samantha with some beach art from a couple summers ago.
Miss Aya having a princess photoshoot, equally old.
And Petra from this spring. The daffodils did well this year.
Thanks for looking

Did Sam find the beach art sea turtle, or did she make it so she'd have a beachcombing buddy? Or... is it an actual fossilized Archelon?
Miss Aya certainly looks glamorous! I'm guessing she doesn't see much windy-day beach time with a hairstyle and outfit like that!
Petra's daffodils look healthy and prolific. Do you mostly have the pale type, or are there yellow ones mixed in there as well?
I'm delighted to see that Petra cherishes the dandelions as much as she does the cultivated plants. I've never fully understood why dandelions are usually considered to be "weeds" rather than "wildflowers."
