RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Alliecat - 06-14-2020

Thanks for the "light" comments, all.  I guess it was worth getting my hair full of twigs and finding out I'd kneeled in deer poop  Irritated

These are prompts that will make us think a bit! Oh boy, if I could summon a meal out of a recipe book by magic, a lot more interesting food and a lot fewer 4-letter words would be seen and heard in my kitchen!! xp LOL

#22 black
My black-haired girls with 2 black dragons and a kitty.
Toothless came from my 2017 eclipse ex!pedition to Nashville.  I made a very long detour to get him, with an overtired passenger LOL

#24 grimoire
Not being into spell-casting books, I had to think about what other books around here might be magic, and so we have...
*travel diaries.  Because adventures can be quite magical, and if the books were magic they'd take me back in time to relive some epic adventures like sailing and ex!ploring new places
and
*unfinished novels.  Because storytelling is a kind of magic, and if these were magic they'd write themselves.... blush

20. Celestial being or object:

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Elfy - 06-14-2020

The shadow picture is brilliant, Allie and Toothless was definitely worth the detour.
The celestial object is very cool, davidd.

A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go....

Nocturnal creature: Zoe with a feathered friend who generally only comes out at night.

Grimoire/scary book: Felicity with Stephen King's It, one of the scariest books she has ever read.

Thirteen: Timmy poses with calendar, pointing out Friday the 13th; one of her favourite days.

Black: black dolls and toys aren't something we have a lot of, but the 'batpeople' were happy to oblige for a group shot.

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Lejays17 - 06-14-2020

Alliecat - that shadow pic is very clever.  And Toothless is well worth any type of detour!  I had troubles thinking / finding a spell book too - the travel diary is a brilliant idea for a magic book, as it would certainly transport you back to when you were travelling.

Davidd - i commented on the daily thread, but that's really clever as a celestial object picture.

My next group - I wasn't as inspired this week for some reason (nothing to do with the actual prompts, I'm just flat out with work at the moment & just generally feeling blah with the winter weather).

Thirteen:  A book with the number in the title, and my thirteenth Pullip & Ever After High doll.

Black:  we don't generally have the dolls dressed in all-over black, so here's 3 of my black dolls.  Justine Dancer, Nina Thumbell & Ginger Breadhouse
[Image: c037e1efa844efd860f2cf4990af455a.jpg]

Nocturnal:  3 Sleepy Monster High Minis  LOL  Here's Spectra, Clawdeen & Abbey
[Image: 6bdc720697d25da3701a60eff7cc4d4b.jpg]

Grimoire:  I couldn't find anything that could be a spell or magic book that had a nice cover for a photo.  But I did find an Encyclopedia for Good & Bad Faeries.  So of course I had to use my EAH fairys for this one.  Both of whom have already featured in the "wings" prompt  Innocent

I love Brian Froud's artwork, and have a number of his fairy books - there was a second-hand bookshop we used to go to that always seemed to have new ones so I would buy one each trip.

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - neon_jellyfish - 06-14-2020

Oh, gosh, so much to comment on! Oooh, all these are so brilliant!

Alliecat - marvelous shadow! And Toothless is so cute! And I looove love love you 'grimoires'!

davidd - amazing photo of amazing celestial object and being!!!

Elfy and Lejays - congrats, now you only have the final shot left (which I shall post soon)! Awesome batches! I especially love your takes on 13! I can easily imagine both the fairies book and the Thirteenth child becoming magic, and Felicity looks so proud to have conquered It, I love that photo!

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Alliecat - 06-15-2020

Fun photos, everyone!  I knew Brian Froud's name, I guess from "The Dark Crystal".  Now I'm wondering who the dinosaur artist is that I thought at first was Froud.  Hmmm....

#20 celestial objects

A celestial body (ahem blush ) looking at other celestial bodies  xp

#23 nocturnal creature

Are you allowed to double-dip in the same photoshoot?  If not, I will shoot something else.  But although Elfy's pic reminded me that I do have a plush owl, I didn't want to copycat, and honestly, the very best example of a nocturnal creature you might find around here is...
...me.

(Seriously; I took this around 2 a.m. xp )

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - davidd - 06-15-2020

How did you take the night selfie?

The star pic with Jake is total kewlness!

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Elfy - 06-15-2020

And we get to see Allie! Great take on both.

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Lejays17 - 06-15-2020

I think this is a great nocturnal creature! A photographer in her natural habitat smile

And the Celestial one with Jake & all the stars.... It reminds me of holidays in the Outback, where the only light is from the fire and the Milky Way is shown in all its glory. Stunning.

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - neon_jellyfish - 06-15-2020

Beautiful celestial shot!

And yes, of course the selfie counts!

Ooo, that sounds lovely. What about bugs? There were mercifully (and strangely?) no mozzies that night. I'm thankful for a big yard to do stuff like this in and that we have relatively little light pollution. The house blocks the driveway light pretty well, but that light on the trees shows up in long ex-posures Irritated

With the most techiest of high-tech equipment. My lil pocket camera and a flashlight, balanced on a kleenex box xp

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Alliecat - 06-17-2020

Double post, oops...

#21. 'number 13'

13 minis are NOT unlucky! LOL
The first 13, in order of arrival clockwise from the top.

Not really any bugs at night that I recall - there’s not enough standing / stagnant water to breed mozzies out there.
Flies though - one of the trips was terrible for them for some reason.  There were some mornings we had to eat brekkie inside the tents so the flies didn’t enthusiastically drown them self in the ceareal bowl   Irritated
But the vast areas of empty space make up for those small annoyances.  I didn’t realise how lucky I was as a kid being carted all over Australia and seeing so much of it.  I haven’t been up to the top of the pointy bit of Queensland, but if you point to anywhere else in Oz, I’ve probably been within 1000km of it at some time.  (And yes, 1000km sounds like a long way, but it’s relative to how big the country actually is).

RE: May (the 2020 Quarantine End Soon) Scavenger Hunt - Lejays17 - 06-17-2020

Cute take on 13 - definitely easier to do with the minis than the full sized ones!
Who is the darker skinned one at 8 o’clock? I don’t think I’ve seen her before.
