davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2025
Welcome back smile
Amusing that the sign needs to state that this is a dinosaur.
A fun collection of big things and big signs. Would've been fun too, to have some photos of your crew in the "smallest biker bar" with some big bikers LOL

Very cool effect! Trying to figure out how you did that one.

A layer of semi-transparent typing... I mean printer paper behind a circular opening in a piece of styrofoam packing material, with an indirect but fairly bright light shining in to the space behind the paper. Boost the contrast a little bit in post-processing to make the silhouette more... contrasty.

Calling on St. Joseph... again...

...and maybe offering him a little bribe... I mean donation. To the cause. Just... because.

Anyway:

Oh St. Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, I lift my heart and hands to You today to ask for Your intercession and assistance in my life and the lives of others. I ask You to please help us to find a buyer for our father's property soon.

I put my trust in You to find the right buyer. Please remove any obstacles and problems that the right buyers might face so that they can fall in love with this property, complete the purchase, and bring life, laughter, and love back to the lonely empty house.

Amen

This round of The Real Estate Game is gonna be tough. The probate for my late father's estate cannot be settled until the house is sold. So far there hasn't been a lot of interest in the property, or at least not that I know of.

It doesn't help that there's a lot of negativity from family members regarding the property and the estate process. Even before the house hit the market, some of those involved were casting doubt because of the economy, interest rates, and the fall season. Others have criticized the look of the images in the real estate listing. Others grumble that "the kitchen is outdated." One relative seems to be actively attempting to sow dissent among everyone else.

I do not have a decision-making role in the process. I suggested a real estate agent who did an excellent job with our mother's property, but Those In Charge selected someone else, who is definitely enthusiastic and who seems to have marketed the property effectively (I think the images in the listing are fine), but who may have over-estimated the value based on emotional rather than objective criteria.

I shall be trying hard to put my own misgivings aside and to optimistically visualize a quick and appropriate resolution to the situation. I have no doubt there is a buyer out there who will love the place and who can make use of its unique (okay, weird, but weird is cool) floorplan... and to whom the money won't matter.

Okay, St. Joe... let's go!

...Holy crap  Whacked
The part of me that recently regrouted an entire shower with large tiles is shuddering, but WHAT a cool and funky house.
I mean, I see Projects, but.... dayum.
Good luck -- I hope your St. Joseph does his thing.  I have begun to believe mine are on strike  sad

My dad and his second wife did a lot of entertaining throughout most of their years in that house (nearly thirty), so they made effective use of the space. But when they got older (as in, old), the various levels -- sunken living room, sunken bedroom, steep driveway -- began to present a challenge. Still, they loved it and never considered moving.

They were lucky to always love where they lived. I can understand about all the levels. I don’t even want a second-story bedroom now!
Are you taking notes on an ex-pedition?

I like little notebooks but I rarely write anything in them, especially in the nicer looking ones.

Li'l Football Guys

.

I spotted these little football player figures at a Dollar Tree store today. I'm not in to football at all, but I was tempted. The level of detail was impressive for $1.25 apiece. I saw three different ones.

The merchandise at Dollar Tree doesn't cost a dollar anymore. For quite a while prices held steady at $1.25. Today I noticed that items are priced variously at $1.25, $1.50, $1.75, and "over $3.00"

"Still, it could be worse..." LOL Not much you can get for $3 these days.
