Yay, glad I could introduce someone to Dolly Treasures. She has 2 books out (maybe 3 now?) called "The Little Mischiefs" & goes to various doll conventions & other events with her dolls. I'm amazed at some of her work, how many dolls in a photo. It must take her hours!

Now I know, it's never the camera that's tilting.

Have you ever had a camera with a heavy lens "face plant"... or "lens plant"... onto the concrete? Sometimes it is the camera tipping!

Ugh... bad flashback... I've had them drop against the tripod leg when the ball head let go... and then there was the 300mm lens that my friend broke loose from the camera when he accidentally kicked the tripod...
"Tilted" horizons are one of my biggest peeves in photos...

Oof! That doesn't sound good, either (though I think I'd rather buy a new camera lens over a new doll!). My camera is small, no fancy giant lenses to weigh it down.

(Big cameras sound risky! ) I agree with the tilted horizon pet peeve, though. I swear sometimes it looks fine when you take it and afterward it's like... eh no. *tilts opposite direction* XP

Everytime I see your photos of a doll I overlooked before I realize how pretty they are. You are very good at capturing their true self. She looks great in whatever you put on her. I would have never guessed how versatile she would be. I think she looks great in her stock form.
I am impressed how you snuck in a few photos before the dinner. I was completely exhausted by that time. I am glad you did because she looks wonderful between flowers

The Dolly Treasures photos are amazing! It must take hours to set them up & take the shots.

The knitting needle / skewer is one of the best hints I've gotten for outside photos. It's so much easier to stand them up now.

I didn't have much of a problem when shooting film. Bigger viewfinder I guess. And fewer buttons/dials/settings to worry about so I could concentrate better on the composition. I try to remember to check before pushing the button, but now & then I get a shot where I realize I paid no attention to the horizon. I blame all the rest of the techy settings. Hello Photoshop

I know, right! And I'm astonished that she can set up so many dolls and have all the knitting needles hidden all at the same angle. I've read she doesn't edit her photos.
