25 December – A Surprise Arrives at the Ameliæ Escadrille Ærodrome

"What is it?"

"Yeah, what is it?"

"It's a box, silly!"

"It's a big box!"

"Is there anything in it?"

"I don't know! Maybe!"

"Yeah, maybe there's something in the box!"

"What could it be?"

"Maybe it's... a present!"

"Oooh!"

"Oooooooh!"

"A present!"

"Yay! Presents!"

"Not presents! A present! Just one present!"

"No... just one box... but it might have LOTS of presents inside!"

"Presents for ALL of us! YAY!"

"Wait! If this box is a present, it should be wrapped in pretty wrapping paper!"

"So it's not a present?"

"But I want a present!"

"I want a present, too!"

"Me too! I want a present!"

"If we WRAP the box, then the box will BE a present!"

"Or a gift. The box could be a gift!"

"But it's not wrapped, so it's not a present. Or a gift."

"Let's wrap it, then!"

"Yeah, let's wrap the box!"

"Let's GIFTwrap the box! Then the box will be a GIFT! Which is almost like a present!"

"Somebody get scissors!"

"We'll get the scissors!"

"Because if there's no wrapping paper on the present then it's not really a present!"

"Put the paper on the box!"

"You have to cut it first!"

"Cut the box? It's too big to cut!"

"No, the paper! Cut the paper!"

"And then tape the paper to the box!"

"So the box can be a present!"

"We still have some paper left!"

"Put the paper on the box!"

"Put the tape on the paper that's on the box!"

"Then will it be a present?"

"No, it will just be tape!"

"When will it be a present?"

"It won't be a present. It will just be tape."

"But the tape will be on the present, right?"

"No, the tape will be on the wrapping paper."

"And the wrapping paper will be on the box!"

"And if there is wrapping paper on the box then the box must be a present!"

"PRESENTS! YAY for PRESENTS!"

OMG... I LOL'd all the way through this. How much eggnog went into this story??
I love the closeup photos right in the middle of the action and the way the dialogue so perfectly suits six of the same doll. It's like a ditzy hive-mind
Something tells me that it would get very tiring being around this crew for very long.
Also, if these pilots intend to actually fly somewhere, the navigation would be utterly hilarious. ...Heck, the pre-flight would be hilarious.
Now you have to give them a blog of their own too, right?

Things seem to be deteriorating. They were more organized and coherent when #6 arrived (and #? burned her hair). Is there some kind of consciousness feedback loop?, a critical mass of Ameliae that makes their ability to think break down...?

They do seem to have some attention-deficit issues, yes.

I think I know what’s in the box within a box that may or may not also be a present, but it’s still fun watching the Ameliae struggle with this.

To them, the struggle seems to be a surprising adventure offering something new and exciting at every turn. It must be nice to be able to go through life with such an attitude.

Rewrapping the unwrapped present came very near to happening. I realized that there are only a few days left in the year, so I briefly stepped in and redirected their attention.

Consciousness feedback loop! That made me laugh! Yes, that must be the ex-planation, a consciousness feedback loop which rapidly amplifies interference and noise.
