No problem at all -- happy to help!
The difference between the pushpin icon and the " < / > " icon is that the latter generates HTML code to embed the image in something like a webpage, while the pushpin generates BBCode. This forum and most other forums I've been on operate with BBCode, so HTML code for frames and embedding won't always work.
I got that direct link in kind of a roundabout way, by clicking the pushpin icon, copying the code it generated, and then deleting the URL and IMG tags surrounding the actual URL. So, the pushpin icon generated this string of text (without the space after the first brackets):
[ url=https://flic.kr/p/fFrts9][ img]https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2812/9635308240_415d2a9c17.jpg[/img][/url]
And to get the direct link to the image, I deleted the strikethrough text:
[ url=https://flic.kr/p/fFrts9][ img] https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2812/9635...2a9c17.jpg [/img][/url]
My point -- and I probably wasn't clear in this, so I apologize -- is that the pushpin link will auto-generate the appropriate BBCode for embedding an image in a forum post.
So it looks like all you have to do is figure out your permissions/access settings, and then you'll be good to go! Or, another alternative is that you can use a photo-hosting service other than Flickr. Whatever works! Ah, and I see as I'm writing this post that you figured it out. Nice!
