Having hatched a few hundred (couple thousand??) of them (the "eastern" ones), she looks pretty darn good to me.
davidd, if you can find some small ones growing and dig them up you might have a bit better chance to start them, as long as you get the whole tap root and a good amount of soil around them. I brought my milkweeds from Ontario to the east coast, and they were fine till the deer ate them
