Quote:How do you choose a wig? I try to photoshop one onto a photo, but last time I did that and thought "that's the one" I was surprised when I got it, that it wasn't quite right.
A lot of trial and error, sadly! This is at least the fourth wig I tried on this doll (and the second I bought specifically for her), and the only one that approached looking OK...
Color-wise, I try to match the doll's eyebrows, especially if they're going to be showing. I always think it looks weird if the eyebrows and the hair are completely different, though Groove is fond of doing this. If I hate the color of the eyebrows, then I specifically look for a wig with full bang coverage of the forehead
Style-wise (and sometimes color-wise, too, for that matter), I do like to look at owner pictures online, though often times with some of the newer or less popular dolls, there aren't a ton of re-wigged pictures. And with a custom doll, that's no help whatsoever. Sometimes I try to find pictures of the wig I'm considering on any Pullip doll, just to see what the fit is like... I've been using a lot of Monique wigs lately (including Florence's last week and Noemie's this week) and the photos on their website are soooo bad... I swear they find the world's ugliest dolls to model them, and don't bother to style them at all. But it's not always possible to find those pictures, either.
So in the end it's a lot of luck... It's always disappointing to spend money on a wig and then be disappointed by it, but I've gotten to the point where I have a decent "wig stash" ... and a way-too-big doll collection... so in the end, a wig that didn't work out for its intended user usually ends up on someone!
