First pic looks a bit like a sailor on a halyard.

I thought so as well, to the point where I began looking up the dimensions of actual sailing ships to see how big a scale model would need to be.
The answer: really really big. Bigger than this deck project.

Just saw a male smart doll somewhere, he seems to be the only male one made?

I believe there has been only one style of male Smart Doll released. Once in a while they are re-issued, but they sell out quickly.
