 Ugh, is that an actual, real bat??  Did it get trapped in the Shed of Doom?

I'd love a lily pond.  Do you have to worry about mosquitoes in it?

Yes, it's a real desiccated bat. I found it while cleaning out a lamp globe.

There were goldfish in the pond for a number of years, until a neighbor's cows decided to use the pond as a watering hole. The extra fertilizer was not good for the fish, who became fertilizer themselves, but the lilies are thriving in the aftermath. The fish probably helped keep the mosquito larvae under control, if there were any, but I've never seen a mosquito here. Too cold for them to over-winter, I think.
