Perhaps it drives better when you put the single wheel at the back.
While a variety of 3-wheeled cars were apparently produced in Europe over the decades, the concept seems inherently unstable. Clarkson and crew seem to have no qualms about destroying 3-wheeled Reliant Robins. They must not be of much value as collector cars; or at least, they weren't at the time of filming. Online sources say the Robin was in production for thirty years, so it must not have been too terribly dangerous.
Aha! I found online that Clarkson's Robin had been "specially side-weighted" to allow it to roll over easily. Apparently there is another episode in which May and Hammond attempt to convert a Reliant Robin in to a space shuttle. Naturally, it ex-plodes.
The prototype of inventor Buckminster Fuller's 3-wheeled Dymaxion Car crashed in 1933, killing one of the three occupants.

I used an illustration effects app I found on my phone (didn't even know it was there until a few minutes ago) to enhance... or de-enhance... a photo of a 1/6-scale action figure.
The figure is a Jiaou 10E body wearing a leopard-print leotard and helmet and accessories from a Cy Girls Aurora action figure.
They're not dolls, they're action figures!
