PTFCo Christmas at the library

I took advantage of the library's supper-hour closure to do a photoshoot.  (And, oops, a little 'work' time after that.)


Annie's first outing away from home (back woodlot doesn't count). 
I still find her frustrating to pose, and she earned a 'creepy' vote from 2 little girls who came in when I reopened the library for the evening.  (I stood her up and asked them what they thought was creepy.  They couldn't really answer.  Ha.)



I used the library's book for at least a couple of Christmases till it wore out and got weeded, so I had to get my own for this year!






The LaVoile family came along too.

Oh, poor Annie, being labeled "creepy" for Christmas! There's a gift that will just keep on giving!

I think Annie is looking especially pretty this time of year; Christmastime is definitely her season!

(I suspect it's her eyes, or more specifically, the realism of her eyes, that might lead to an initial reaction of "creepy." She certainly appears sentient, like she's actually watching what's going on around her. Plus, there's a current pop-culture "thing" to label all large dolls as "creepy.")

The little one and the littler ones seem to have had a grand time. Of course, who wouldn't with a vintage steam locomotive to play on! With that red hair, they are Christmas naturals as well!

Fantastic photo shoot.

I don't find Annie creepy at all, she looks lovely under the tree there.

The steam train is the best, and just the perfect size for the smaller ladies. And the one with the Christmas tree book is so very cute too.

I agree her gaze is rather intense, but it wasn't her eyes that creeped out the girl because she wasn't close enough to even see her face; Annie was lying on the table and the kid was a good six feet away. Maybe just a 'body' bigger than an action figure lying on a table...? I dunno.
I'm not sure if it was the same kid (they're twins) who later said Sunsette & Scarlett were cute, but, then, who wouldn't??

I personally think that's a lovely compliment for a doll, because my goal in photography is indeed to make them look real

The big dolls creeped me out at first, too: it's because they're big enough to be baby humans, but have the proportions of adults, I think. The mind processes both of those bits of data at lightning speed, and then puts out "something is wrong, AVOID!"

I can tell you're more comfortable posing the smaller dolls.  They have more natural poses.  I really like the Christmas family portrait with the three of them together.  Annie's eyes do seem a bit penetrating.  Have you tried repositioning them to a side glance?

Is Annie 1/4 scale or 1/3 scale? If she's 1/3, I wonder if Smart Doll hands could be made to fit? They are nicely detailed and somewhat more feminine. Of course, color match might be an issue.

Bjd hands can be bought individually, and aren't a nightmare to change like other bjd body parts, either way.

She's 1/3, davidd, and yes, maybe one day I'll see about changing them. Not real high on the priority list these days, but if I get her sueded or something so she poses better, then maybe that would be the next step.

These pictures are so nice and festive! I hope Annie enjoyed her outing, even if she did get called creepy. That sweater is perfect on Dawn!
