Werepuppy's (Attempt At) Doll-A-Day 2019!
I assume he's a pokémon? That's a pretty wallpaper, I'm sure it will be great for dolly photos!

I find Snorlax to be one of the more amusing Pokemon names. It always makes me chuckle. It also makes me feel sleepy.
I don't know if "snoring" and "relaxing" have anything to do with the actual character, but that's what Snorlax brings to mind.

He is a Pokémon, yeah. I'm kind of predictable. I just need to find a way to balance dolls carefully - the only wall with the paper is the one my bed is against - mostly because I only papered the wall with the window on it. ... It looks really nice, especially on good weather days.

I am honoured by their approval.

Actually, you're entirely right. Snorlax is known as the sleeping pokémon and many of the times you encounter one, you have to wake it up before you can battle it.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, our only hope... He's getting a series on the Disney+ streaming service which is due to launch in a few months in most regions. Apart from the UK, and there is no advertisted or prospective launch date for the UK. Sigh.

Hooray for another brave warrior joining the team that babysits The Emo-est of Edgelords!

Wouldn't it be easier to capture a Snorlax without waking it up? I thought the tag line was "Gotta Catch 'Em All," not "Gotta Fight 'Em All."

Perhaps video distribution will be better post-Brexit. LOL Tongue LOL

So, there's a "Young Obi-Wan" series in the works? I liked him best when he was a mysterious old hermit with only a few mostly-forgotten myths about his past. Give us a show about some other Jedi, maybe, but not Obi-Wan. There were hundreds of 'em, you know. (My whining kinda illustrates the comment I left on your Life in the Room post today, huh?)

Q-posket Merida looks very cute. They've certainly come out with a lot more figures since I first heard of them. Snorlax looks like he would be a good pillow, and I have to agree that it's probably easier to catch something that's sleeping... xp
Also it does seem strange to see a young Obi-Wan, but I'm out of touch with the latest movies and so on.

This one is even better at it - he babysat the emo-est of edgelord's grandfather, the most extra man in the galaxy! (I will - one day - have a 6" Anakin figure. Or Vader. Believe it or not, they're surprisingly hard to find before scalpers get them and raise the prices on the aftermarket.)

Mostly due to the sheer size and bulk of it, no.

Oh, don't. Our new PM has elected to close Parliament down so that we will be forced to leave on the due date without a deal. Courts and MPs are trying to oppose it but /shrug. Doll boards aren't the place to get into it all but all the rage faces, basically.

I think it's probably during the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan is one of the few aspects of the prequel trilogy that most people agree is actually quite good, so there was fan want for him to continue in the role. I do think there will be some other Jedi stuff - there's always hope that they will do something for Knights of the Old Republic

I have to agree on that, actually. I looked up and there's been a Q-Posket of Esmeralda, and Jane and other characters I would not necessarily think of for the line. (Speaking of characters I wouldn't think of... Esmeralda and Meg of all people are getting dolls in the Disney Store designer line this year. Due out in October. They're pretty.)

Can confirm that Snorlax is a good pillow.

Again, it's largely because Ewan McGregor was liked a lot in the role. Fans wanted to see him back.

243: A Trio of Momoko
[Image: 59364442_02acdb0f5a31b8bcaed741b85df1c39d_standard.jpg]
Just thought it would be nice to see all three of my Sekiguchi Momokos together. What's especially interesting to me is that the doll in the middle is from 2005, while the other two are from 2016 and 2017 respectively and there is no difference in the bodies or articulation in that time gap. It does seem to be more of a case of "if it isn't broke" with them. That being said, rotational wrists would be nice, as Momokos are just hinge-joints there.

Still, I think myself very fortunate to have these three, and I'm grateful that I do.

Nice differences between the 3 figures, even though they are same bodies / articulation. It’s interesting that they weren’t “improved” in some way in the 10 years between them.

I’m looking forward to seeing the series of Obi-Wan, t o see what they are going to do with it, and how it’s going to fit into the general universe.

Are you looking for a particular 6” figure / line for Vader? Next time we visit the bookshops in the city (about a month is the next “scheduled” one), I can have a look in the collectables area, I do look quickly for Vader toys for my younger sister but not the articulated dolls in specific.
My Girls: Alice Mint du Jardine (Lottie), Brand New Purrezza (Amelia), Ayanamei Rei (Evie), Princess Ann/Roman Holiday (Kit), Aquel (Becky), Scarlet (Izzy), Meg (Jo-Meg), Laura (Antimony), Nahh-Ato (Shala), Chicca (Maeve), Peter Pan (Meredith), VeryBerryPop (Daisy), SDCC2016 Wonder Woman (Diana), Taffy (Tansy), Amelia (Beatrice), Steampunk Cheshire Cat (Antoinette), Arietta (Ashli), Naoko (Zoey), Mocha MIO (Nyxie), Steampunk Mad Hatter (Hattie), Sapphire Princess Knight (Roni), Steampunk Alice (Lizette), Asoka Sorayu (Nova), Steampunk Taeyang Dodo (Theodore), Steampunk Isul White Rabbit (Finn), Tiphona (Felicity), Anthy Himemiya (Ester), Mocha MIO (honey), Alte (Bethan)

The Sekiguchi Momoko dollies have the sweetest faces, and their costumes are very nice and fairly good quality. Those bodies, though, are total dollar store knock-off grade junk. Nonetheless, I adore my version of Cousin Monday, and the "amusement value" I find in her is worth what she cost.

I don't know if it would be possible to rebody a Momoko head on to a higher quality body. But since the Momoko bodies are rather petite, the costumes would probably not fit well on other bodies.

I am grateful that you have three Momokos, because I find the adventures of your Momoko characters in The Room to be endlessly entertaining.

Cuties! Do you plan to get any PetWORKS ones?

To be perfectly honest, when it comes to 1/6 Asian fashion dolls (be it Pullips, Pure Neemo or Momoko), I do think they could improve more often, I think that the currrent bodies are a bit dated... I also don't get why Azone released Emotion body only to never use it except for anime collabs and a random release now and there... I think Obitsu might be good for 1/6, but I don't have any, so I don't know for sure. I guess that 1/3 is kind of a default scale for Asian doll market, so most development goes into those sizes...

It's very amazing what slight differences in face-ups can make to the exact same sculpt. Of course, we all know that from Pullip and friends, but it's still amazing to see the same thing work on a different kind of doll with a very different head-scale. I would say that the biggest difference between the bodies would be that - to me at least - the doll from 2005 feels to be made of a slightly thicker plastic/vinyl. Just slightly. And honestly, that could be from different production methods for all I know.

I am intrigued to see what'll happen - it's clearly during the time between Ep 3 and 4 which... does provide a lot of interesting story-telling in terms of just how he managed to evade Vader so long. (I still buy the meme on Tumblr that Vader just refused to look anywhere with sand. Because humor.)

Well, ideally the Black Series 6" Vader, if possible, but please don't put yourself out. Thank you for the kind offer, however!

I do find that the quality of costuming, paint, and hair tends to make up for the bodies. Even with their relative "cheapness" in comparison with those other factors, it's still telling that they're better than the standard Mattel body. (Obviously not counting the Made to Move bodies here, which I really wish would just become the default body.)

As for rebodying... probably Obitsu would work the best as they have the same kind of proportions. An Integrity body would also work if you were just looking for quality and had no interest in their outfits fitting. If there was a pale skinned petite made to move, that would probably also work.

Aw, thank you! Ophelia and Monday have been such fun to write for. Just wait till Momoko herself makes an appearance!

I ... genuinely don't know. The PetWORKS Momoko dolls tend to be a lot more ex.pensive, even second-hand. I'm not actually sure why that is - there doesn't seem to be a quality difference between the two, and it's not like the PetWORKS dolls offer more detail. It's just... one of those things.

Obitsu tends to own the market for 1/6 scale for Asian fashion dolls, I think, Well, no, it would be Licca-chan who tends to have those bendy limbs that are just wire covered with vinyl, but it's Obitsu for those who like seeing their articulation. My 1/6 Wednesday is on an Obitsu body, though I might need to replace it as the hip joint has broken a bit..

You might be right in the 1/3 scale being the default...

244: Designer Evil Queen
[Image: 59406071_367b1f7fca8d3dd49d41332905d2b5f9_standard.jpg]
I managed to get my limited edition Disney dolls out of their space and down for some photos. I have to admit these aren't all that great, as they were largely just me attempt to take photographs in the limited time and space I had at that point. So, Evil Queen! The Designer Villain range really went for too large an edition size per doll, so I managed to get the two I do own on deep discount. I think EQ came off one of the best in this range, as her own look tended really well towards glamming up.
Though a funny side note for you all. My friends and I think the look here makes her the spitting image of a West End performer we are fans of. Said performer played - to sum the character up as simply as possible - an evil queen. We laughed.

Oooh, she really is glamorous! Any plans to debox?

She appears quite stately, and of fairly high quality, with excellent costuming. Probably more of a display piece than a play piece, eh?

Your Momokos make a fun trio with different styles. I'm a proponent of "if it ain't broke"... but, sometimes upgrades are an improvement. As you say, the wrists. I hate Type 3 Pullip wrists. So fragile and hard to pose.
Will be interesting to see your LE Disney dolls. I'm also curious if you plan to de-box any.

I read somewhere that the Evil Queen’s actual name is Grimhilde. If you haven’t done so already try and get and read Sarah Pinborough’s Fairy Tale trilogy.
