davidd's A Doll A Day 2019
The seamless woman is a bit too realistic. I think I prefer my figures to look less real. The outfit is lovely even if it doesn’t suit her.

Addie is off somewhere on an adventure? Or still collecting her supplies for it?

This cobbled-together outfit is beginning to look intriguing! Funny that Pullip hats fit Smart Dolls almost perfectly.

She's still gearing up for... something. I'm not quite sure what, yet. I'm usually the last to find out.

The off-brand "fits American Girl dolls" swim goggles make great "steampunk" and sci-fi apparel. One of these days I'll spruce them up to give them more of a "leather and brass" look. Maybe. It's a thought, at any rate.

!!! MASSIVE PIC SPAM TIME !!!

Word has come down from The Suits at Corporate that in order to claim successful completion of the A Doll A Day 2019 Project, at least 365 photographs are required, one for each day. Under ideal circumstances, a photo is both taken and posted each day. The rules, however, offer leniency in compliance with the "taken and posted each day" guidelines, allowing for extenuating circumstances as long as a reasonable effort is made to comply to the extent possible. However, A Doll A Day does mean a doll photo for every day of the year, meaning at least one unique photo for each day.

As it stands, due to an unforeseen (and extremely unpleasant) stretch of ill health, I missed nineteen consecutive days in mid-November. The Suits at Corporate have generously agreed to consider the circumstances of this lapse, and have assigned a staff member to help me bring my Doll A Day effort up to the minimally acceptable standard.

Maudlynne Steps Up to Help!
(Under duress, she hastens to add.)

"But don't let it happen again!" I have been informed in no uncertain terms.

Thanks to the charitable magnanimity of The Suits at Corporate and the dedication, creativity, and hard work by Miss Maudlynne ("I just point the camera and click the button," says Maudlynne), following is a series of "make-up pics" to bring appropriate closure to this A Doll A Day Project:

15 November – Monster High Dead Tired Clawdeen Wolf
(My Monster High figures were largely neglected this past year. They deserve
more attention if we tackle this nonsense again)

Wow!! davidd finishes just under the wire on a technicality! LOL
Did you ahem, Maudlynne, take all those in one go? It's fun to see the variety in your collection.
Hmm, the blue-haired girls certainly look like something's going on. And the photo of Toralei looks like a book cover -- one of those kids' sports chapter books. Neat lighting on Vandala. In many of the stock photos I looked up, she doesn't seem to have a nose.

Well, she is very realistic. I suppose it depends what you want to do with them -- the kind of photos or whatever, that you like. I mean, Hot Toys makes incredibly realistic figures. But that's really an interesting observation ... Maybe we are programmed to like cuter dolls the way we like baby animals with big eyes, etc. Something cute and fun you can play with as opposed to more serious and grown-up looking...?

And maybe Addie is off to ex-plore the Uncanny Valley!?

Anyway, cheers for finishing and entertaining us all for another year smile

Judging by this, you definitely do need to take more Monster High pics. Congratulations on successfully completing ADaD. I could never do it.

31 December – Out with the Old Year, In with the New

At the beginning of the 2019 (as detailed in the first post in this topic) I began a list of my doll acquisitions throughout the year as influenced by other participants in the Doll A Day/Week Project. Looking back at that list, it appears the two most significant INFLUENCERS on my dolly acquisitions were werepuppy and neon_jellyfish, with a tie at three apiece.

Over the course of the year I bought some dolls, I sold some dolls, and I bought and then sold some dolls before I even opened the packages. These last few weeks I have come to realize that I have lots of dolls, mostly Monster High, who were largely ignored throughout the year. Should I choose to continue with A Doll A Day, I hope to better manage my purchases while better featuring dolls and figures who were neglected during this past year.

I might even start keeping a spreadsheet like some of you have mentioned doing.

It was fun. I deeply appreciate every single comment I have received on these photos. The interactions with the other members of this forum never fail to add a spot of brightness to my day.

Thank you to the entire Dolly Market Forum for a fun and fascinating trip through 2019.

Sacrificial fires offer dramatic lighting opportunities.

Haha, yeah, one second she looks dreamy, but then I take a closer look and there's a hint of rather sinister satisfaction in her ex³pression. I already commented about grim reapers ending our challenges elsewhere.

Congrats for completing ADAD 2019 like a boss!!! And thank you for all the marvelous, beautiful and amusing photos!!!
