Neon’s A Doll A Day… Again (2020)
Oh, all those angles look good, I can see why you found it hard to pick just one!

....it hasn’t...?....

I see what you mean… It would be hard to choose. I liked the first one, but then after looking at them again I’m also swayed by the middle one ...

I like them all, but I'm with Allie. It's the middle one for me.

Thank you very much, everyone!!!

Day 161

ADAW #22

I have a migraine again, so totday's ADAW sucks, both the drawing and the photos are rather sloppy.
This is Oddwickshire Butterbat, and I messed up poor creature's wings. From this side, the bottom pair should be covering the top pair. My head is too achy to redraw it.

Butterbat! How cute is it?? Even if it’s not done in the correct proportions.

Oh, and I liked the middle shot of th3 three the best, but it was difficult to choose between them.

What an adorable creature! Would these be mysterious "cryptids" in Oddwickshire, or are they relatively common, "normal" creatures... by Oddwickshire standards, I mean?

Ah! I see what you mean about the wings from an anatomical standpoint. But in this case, "artistic license" is acceptable as it makes for a more appealing visual aesthetic in the illustration.

Lovely the way you've selected a butterbat specimen that colour-coordinates so nicely with your lovely ghost-girl. Do butterbats in the wild exhibit other colours as well?
They're not dolls, they're action figures!

When you are feeling better I'm sure we all want to know something of butterbat ecology.... wink

The butterbat looks rather like a winged possum and that is a scary thought down here.

Many thanks, everyone!

Butterbats are quite common in Oddwickshire, but you won't see them around towns, you need to go deeper to the woods. They're much smaller than possums (cca 20cm with tail), so no worries, Elfy! Also, they're quite shy, I don't think they would be interested in people's (or other humanoids') gardens. They eat various berries and small insects.

Day Huh, previous days had messed up numbers. That's what I get for not checking the spreadsheet properly and just quickly glancing over the previous number. I went from Day 159 to 152, what the heck...  162

I've been having migraines for over two weeks now, which means I'm in for a long spell and they'll hang around for at least a month, so I'm sorry in advance, my photos are going to be rather crappy and boring.

Gloom and Bloom Jane kind of self-filters in photos, her colors just come across as neon no matter what I do...

And I have a bonus non-dolly photo. I had a most charming visitor today! He came seeking shelter from rain and hid in my bugleweeds. It's european rose chafer - cetonia aurata. They're quite fond of bugleweeds, I see them in mine now and then.

What a lovely iridescent beetle!
And a lovely neon Jane! I do not remember ever seeing the Bloom & Gloom line at all. This is quite a striking version!
They're not dolls, they're action figures!

Oh that Jane is gorgeous. Very, very stunning.

Oooh, Jane is super! I love the neon effect.
What a cool beetle.  ... Now if you could just get one of the dolls to hold it…  Tongue
Really sorry to hear about the migraine attack. Hang in there, and I hope you will be feeling better soon.

Oh, Butterbat is super adorable! And so is the beetle. We also call this guy rose beetle, but I don't think I've ever seen them around a rose bush. Ever. They are crazy for elderberry though. Jane is such a cute doll, her colour is awesome and her faceup is adorable, but for some reason I never felt connected enough with her to get her (I bought her original version on a nice sale once, to see if there is a connection IRL, but we parted relatively quickly).

I'm sorry to hear that you are having heavy migraines. I'm lucky in this regard, but my mother used to have awful migraines throughout her life, so I know how bad those can be - huge kodos for going on with the daily photos even under these conditions! I hope it passes soon.

Jane suits the beetle, too. She could have it as a pet or study it. We have similar beetles here, we call them Christmas Beetles, because that's about the time of year they tend to appear.
