The Dal House Forum has a travelling exchange doll this summer. "Red" arrived here yesterday. I'll try to post her adventures here too.
"Call all hands! Incoming!!"
"What's this...?"
--Why don't you open it, Samantha.
"Um... Oh kay....?"
"Help help help!! Get me out!! There's a spider in here!!!"
*splorch*
"Taken care of."
"Hello there."
"..."
"Mum, look! It's someone like ME!!"
"Welcome!"
"Hi, Red!"
"Welcome to Canada!"
"Yay!"
"Well, here I am, in New Brunswick, Canada."
"Hmmm...."
"Hi, I'm Darla. Let me tell you about being an exchange doll..."

So cute - looking forward to seeing her adventures with your crew.
I particular liked the spider one, and also Darla settling in to tell Red all about being a traveller.

Two weeks sealed in a box ? with a SPIDER??
That’s quite an ex-citing start to Red’s New Brunswick adventure!
Red will doubtless have a lot of fun with that merry band of mischief makers showing her the sights.
Or will she get roped in to helping with the house painting project?

I think getting a guest to help with the house painting would be more the sort of thing that Janie would do.

EEK! Trapped in a small space with a spider sounds like a nightmare!
Samantha's pink jacket is adorable. She and Red look like they will be good pals.

Edit Reason: Red forgot to say something

That’s quite an ex-citing start to Red’s New Brunswick adventure! Yeah, thanks but no thanks!! Why I am very careful with all packages coming in -- last summer I got a cockroach in the mail. Only one, and after a profane fit of cleaning, I never saw another. The exterminator confirmed he'd never seen them here in 15 years, & someone on Omocha Crush said they could hide in cardboard corrugations. So yeah, sometimes I open boxes outside.

"I went to work with Alliecat at the library today!"
"When's movie night?"
"Here be dragons!!"
"...although this one's kind of funny-looking..."
"This little weird green guy is everywhere these days."
"I read for a while."
"Helping with signage."
"I found..."
"...a castle!"
"...um... should there be a knight riding up, about now...?"
">sigh< oh well..."
"I don't weigh anything! Why do I cost so much to mail??!"
"I photocopied myself!! In colour!!!"
"What's this...?"
"Uh oh. ....should I...?"
"I want a ticket to anywhere but 2021. Here goes....!"

Does the library staff make all that cool stuff, like dinosaur-dragons… and a castle?!?!? And a TIME MACHINE?!?! Must be a blast working there! How do I apply? And then, once I have a confirmed job offer, I can move to this island paradise!
Is there a lighthouse on the island now, or just the spooky abandoned one that collapsed? Will Red get to visit the abandoned lighthouse?
Be careful with that time machine, Red! You don’t wanna end up back in 2020!

A Castle! and a Time Machine! These are so cool - I don't remember our libraries ever having anything that exciting in them.
Yes, be careful in the time machine - a wrong twist of the dial or push of a button could dump you back at the start of 2020...
Red looks like she's having a fantastic time in the library helping you

If she needs a knight we may have to introduce her to Tristan, although she may have a fight on her hands getting him away from Miranda.

I'm not involved in the Summer Reading Program but yes, the summer workers made the time machine for it. The castle looks like a kit, as it's printed.
We're not sure 2020 is any worse, or that 2022, or 2023, or.... will be much better....
We won't be visiting the collapsed lighthouse because there's nothing there now -- maybe just some scattered debris. It's going to be a bit hard to even do the lighthouse tour I planned thanks to my stupid toe
Red says she would be willing to meet Tristan

"Huh...? I didn't go anywhere!"
"Well, that was super disappointing. ....Maybe it wasn't plugged in?"
"Oh well. There's other stuff to do here. Like Lego to play with."
"And the craft cupboard! I mean, markers and a whole caddy full of GLITTER. What else could you want??"
"But why can't I take the plane home?"
"A new perspective from the mirror."
"Some historical portraits, by an early 20th-century painter who lived here and taught summer workshops."
"Oh come ON. I heard PTFCo had pirates, but this sword is way too big for me."
"Found a warm fuzzy friend."
"Should I go back and kiss him???"

Kissing him can't hurt. Yari is jealous that Red has found a honking big sword.

That Time Machine looks familiar. It appears very similar to the model the engineers were working on during my time at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Alamagordo. I can almost guarantee you that it is, in fact, a working Time Machine - rudimentary, yes, but fully functional.
As an ex-periment, take two clocks or watches and synchronize them perfectly with one another, down to the second. Place one clock at the entry portal to the time machine, and the other at the exit portal.
Upon entering the machine, make a note of the precise time. When you emerge from the opposite portal, check the clock. You should find... indeed, I am certain that you will find... that you have progressed, on average, between fifteen and thirty seconds in to the future! Occasionally the jump is less, sometimes it is more.
The Law of Causality, based upon the Universal Constant (the relative speed of light in a vacuum), as currently understood precludes backwards time travel. But the simple ex-periment outlined above will demonstrate that time travel in a forward direction is possible when using a technologically advanced time travel device like the one in the possession of the Grand Manan Island Library.
I'm curious as to how the library came to possess such a device. My understanding is that the research is still considered classified.

It does look rather like the Time Machine that Calvin and Hobbes once used to get a school essay written on time.
