PrettyTiny Film Company -- random pix (Nov. 22)
Poor Samantha, missing her bestie Red already. Love the butterfly dance with Miki, too.

Thanks everyone!  Dals can be well suited to melancholy photos.  And Aya is really a stunning doll.

I am 6 months behind, sorting photos, ugh!!  I still have some to sort from when my lupins were in bloom! sad
Then I shoot more.
I'll catch up, sometime...

An anniversary was observed, and it always requires cake.  So of course the blue dolls had to pose with such a pretty cake (peppermint vanilla, mmmm).

Funny how minis look OK with regular-proportioned dolls, but big Pullips don't.

I got this fabulous scarf for a friend.  Well, first I got a different one, with blue in it.  Then I liked it so much I decided to keep it.  I went back to the store for the other one; they only had 2... and on a bad day that needed some dolly time to save it, I realized what an awesome photo backdrop the scarf is.  I did end up sending it, but I regret it slash

Taryn makes an excellent Pirate!
Love the ambience in the pics with the decorative string lights.
What anniversary were we observing? If cake is involved, was it an Oddwickshire oddliday?

It was a surgery anniversary, actually.... one that made such a huge change for the better that I celebrate with cake every year smile

Someone asked for snow pictures.  Ugh, we got dumped on.  Power was off for 5-6 hours and apparently some parts of the island, and the neighbouring one, were still out as of earlier this evening.  Idiot that built this house didn't put in an alternative heat source.  Not the first time I've considered getting a generator...
Anyway, in between dealing with the snow-plowing guy and shovelling the big drift off the back porch (not the first time I've considered getting a snow fence)... I took Petra out for a few quick pictures.  My enthusiasm for photography varies directly with the temperature, and so apparently does the camera's, because it quit before the last one.  My film camera never would've done that......
Anyway, here they are.

It blew so hard that even way in the woods the tree trunks were plastered.

Remember when snow meant fun, and sliding, and snow forts, rather than shovelling and having to make a house accessible?

OK, I'm sorry you had to take off your party gown for a snowsuit and come out in the cold.  Yes, you can go in now.

Oh, man! That's a lot of snow! I didn't realize islands in the ocean could get that much snow!

But... sunny day snow pictures look quite wonderful and fun! Those are some really cute shots! And that forest! You're surrounded by a forest! A forest with snow on an island in the ocean! Truly, you live in a magical place!

Is there a location in your house where it would be feasible to install a wood stove? Sounds like it might be a worthwhile investment, if you plan to stay there.

Beautiful!

The losing power/ having to shovel out/ miserable cold part, less so, but... so pretty!

Petra is quite the intrepid snow explorer. I can’t imagine our Meredith doing that. Not even with the lure of a cool hood/hat.

The snow shots always look impressive for those of us who don’t have to deal with the reality of the stuff.

That sounds really stupid to not have a heat source that requires power to operate. We don’t have it as cold as you do, and when we had a storm a few months back (in our winter), my parents were without power for a few days. But they have a wood-burning fireplace, and could close off most of the rest of tge house to keep the lounge & their bedroom warm at least.

I love the snow photos! She looks like she's having so much fun out there. The snow, while beautiful, does come with it challenges--such as having to shovel it all! I am glad that she looks up for the challenge. Very cute photos of Petra!

*cough* Svalbard... Greenland...  South Georgia.... *cough*  Tongue  LOL

Not really.  A generator would be less invasive.

Thank you smile  I don't mind short power outages... makes you take some time to slow down a bit.  Although cold beefaroni and PB & crackers aren't a great supper LOL
Ironically our worst power outage was in the summer when the undersea cable failed and we had no power for a couple of days.  Going down the road for a bucket of water from the creek to flush your toilet is NOT enjoyable.  Makes you appreciate what you have.

Soooooo far behind on photos.  Some day perhaps I will sort them.  I have some from back in the summer that I haven't posted yet!

The icicles at sunset picture is amazingly amazing! What a picturesque place in which to live and play!

Love the warm light in the autumn shot! I kinda gushed over it on Flickr.

Yes, I know Greenland gets snow, but Greenland is enormous, more like a continent than an island. Iceland and South Georgia are close to their respective Arctic circles. I thought perhaps the ocean helped keep your island a bit more temperate. Perhaps it is a bit more temperate relative to the inland mainland areas at that latitude.

The island depends on a cable from the mainland for all its power? That seems a bit... tenuous. In Utah there have been power outages lasting a couple of days, which necessitated dipping stagnant water out of the garden pond for flushing purposes, so yes, I've ex-perienced a few hours of "pioneer life" myself. I can't say it made me "appreciate" what the pioneers did to survive. More like, I now marvel that anyone survived at all in the pre-plumbing and pre-electricity days!

I have to agree that the icicle picture is absolutely amazing! Like it is a model shot! All of your girls look so fashionable, and I especially am loving those new boots.

And a new sister, eh? I look forward to it! LOL

I'm going in with the icicle picture, too. It is stunning. Samantha's getting a sister? Is Red returning? I do hope so, I'm so happy for her.

So that was a while ago, and Red returned to stay shortly after.  And more ice-cavern pix are in the pic-fics.

It is.  Often they get snow and we get rain.  Or you come off the ferry and once you get up the hill it's like "whoa, look at all the snow over here".
The cable lasted 40 years and was already scheduled for replacement when it crapped out (possibly snagged by a dragger?) so they had to bring generators over while that happened, but since it was already getting underway, the timing was pretty good.  We had the entertainment of watching a giant cable-lay boat just offshore for a while.  There is a generating station here but it also crapped out shortly after the cable did and then was too ex$pensive to run for weeks while the cable was replaced.  Sometimes it takes them a while to get it going when there's a winter outage.
The lugging of creek water really made me appreciate NOT having to do that regularly!!

I am soooooo far behind sorting photos.  This isn't even as far behind as I am, but let's go back to October, when there was a butterfly or two still here, and I found a fairy in the yard.

Winter can be easier when you have a nice furry friend to keep you warm. Is your fairy one of those helpful ones that can perform household tasks while you sleep?
