26 June - A Cute Scalene Triangle
"Ten feet four inches!"
"Fourteen feet nine inches!"
"Fourteen feet even!"
"Mark your points! We're good to go!"
Janie, Triv, and Addie engage in some serious measuring and mathematics.
What can I say? They're smart dolls!

They really are smart!
And as usual, the poses look like they really are working and you've caught them in the middle of it.
It's fun to see your projects progressing through the dolls' adventures.

Somebody has to get things done while I'm goofing off taking pictures and playing with dolls!

27 June - New User Icon: Pullip Lala
.
For the first time in practically forever -- actually, it is the first time in forever in Internet Years -- I changed my forum user icon today.
Since the days of the Pinky-Street forum, my user icon on doll and toy forums has been Fräulein Ilsa (a customized Pinky Street Arcueid Brunestud figure).
Today, however, a discussion topic here at Dolly Market about San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) exclusive Pullip dolls reminded me that my very first Pullip, Lala, was a Comic Con exclusive release. Since Dolly Market originated as primarily a Pullip & Friends online forum, it seemed appropriate that my user icon should reflect that. Additionally, Lala has been dressed similarly to Fräulein Ilsa for quite some time (over ten years), so it occurred to me today to recreate my original user icon in Pullip style.
For reference, here is my previous user icon:
Fräulein Ilsa
NOTE: The "Don't worry, pets" line is from a photo-story that appeared on the Pinky-Street forum back in, like, 2007.

That's quite a mouthful of a name for a little figure. I had to google it.
I never change my profile pix for anything

Most Pinky-Street fans just called her "Arc" for short.
I rarely change my profile pic, so this was kind of a Big Deal for me.

Haha... somehow I never get my brain to retain knots. Shipboard class... the library did a class with a fisherman... I do them at the time and then can't really remember shortly after. The only one I infallibly remember is the bowline, because of that dang rabbit

Even with a diagram it takes me half an hour to figure out something as simple as a clove hitch. So I let Janie and Triv figure it out. (It took them half an hour, too!)

Of course... if they ever finish!

These are all so cute. I love how realistic they look.
First pic looks a bit like a sailor on a halyard.

Yeah I like the first pic as well. They really seem super poseable. Just saw a male smart doll somewhere, he seems to be the only male one made?

I thought so as well, to the point where I began looking up the dimensions of actual sailing ships to see how big a scale model would need to be.
The answer: really really big. Bigger than this deck project.

I believe there has been only one style of male Smart Doll released. Once in a while they are re-issued, but they sell out quickly.

Edit Reason: afterthoughts...
)
At first glance I thought it was a new robot till I remembered you had those suits
I'm curious what sort of spaceship would have this vintage kitchen. Might be fun.

The answer: really really big. Bigger than this deck project. Wouldn't have to be. I mean, unless you want to build a full-rigged double decker or something, and you might be looking at 30+ feet. But you could build a schooner, or if you like it square, a little brig.... ....
...or you could turn your army guys into pirates and build a 1:6 ship....

After reading this, I realized I was doing my calculations in 1/6 scale rather than in Smart Doll scale, which is 1/3, so even a small Smart Doll ship would be big!
Been busy. I have the pics, just haven't posted. I'll get caught up here in the next couple of days.

Ermm... okay, not really.
But there should be a Julie London / Bobby Troup set! Or a Julie London / Jack Webb set.

I’d have to look those people up when I am not on a tiny phone screen.
I assumed you were talking 1/3 scale. I thought 1/6 would not be that bad. ... You could still do a little one. Nudge nudge.
Hey, maybe that could be the brand new project you were going to start after not getting your other projects done!!

A Doll A Day 2022:
Playing catch-up!
.
2 July - Doll House Room Box -- Work in Progress
... or lack of progress. I think I started this project three years ago. May have been even longer.
It's been sitting in the storage shed for ages, and has gradually filled up with junk.
Solo in the Spotlight Barbie gives the place a quick once-over and declares: Burn it!
3 July - Janie unloads another truck-load of lumber for the deck project
4 July - It Was Addie's Turn for Dump Duty This Week
5 July - Triv Fills Fuel Cans
6 July - "Calico Death?"
"That sounds ominous!"
"Ominous... but colorful!"
7 July - "Y'all Don't Come Back Now, Y'Hear?"
8 July - Janie attends to some detail work underneath the deck
9 July - We Interrupt The Current Job for Another Job:
Clearing a Clogged Drain!
"Ewww! Why do I always get stuck with jobs like this?
"How's that? Gross enough for ya?"
