Getting this light on all the accessible rocks with this orientation requires getting up for sunrise. I am NOT a morning person. But, I had to be up at dawn for something else today, so I packed Aislinn along, and after my "real" photo assignment, I went to the beach to play. I'm sure I could find a better match of rock type and maybe a tide pool too, aaannd it would've been nice if the tide was higher... but I didn't have a lot of time to find a spot as the sun came up.
The original photo is by someone called Karolina Henke
You both did great it is a beautiful photo and Aislinn doesn't look like she has a tummy ache like model in the inspirational photo. )

Thank you everybody! I was happy with how it came out. Couldn't be sure on the teeny camera screen. I'm glad I didn't see the original photo first (which I later found online) because it looks much less like scenery that I knew I could find similar.
I see another one of hers I'd like to do. Anyone else want to try?

Some of those "fashionable" poses are just, so... awkward. I decided it didn't matter that her body didn't bend that way!

It's better than the magazine photo IMHO. At some point I will get off my derrière and give this idea a try, it's so much fun to look at! It's actually a very accessible beach... and most of the rocks you have to walk over are well worn by the tide. Just have to step carefully over the piles of them! And salt water... well, that's the only kind of salt that lowers your blood pressure
Glad you liked the photo.

I posted this last night. Either the forum ate it or I'm losing my mind, because it disappeared.
Anyway, I lost this card for a while but finally unearthed it. The best part of this shoot was the missed photo... my cat was under the chair (it's her 'office') & at one point she reached out because I'd brushed the backdrop. So there was this lonnnngg cat arm reaching out, paw extended, toward the doll. Camera wasn't ready.
Oh well -- here's Charonne's turn to copy a human model. A little easier than the outdoor shoots.

Aw! Re: the forum ate my post - I sometimes hit the preview post button and think I posted it. Until I come back later and find my reply isn't there.

Wow, this is an OLD thread now
I'd like to have done more of these, and I'm still challenging/inviting anybody else to join in.
C'mon, y'all, show me whatcha got!
Here's Samantha doing a Dal House photo challenge; you have to copy a photo. One of the themes is "music".
I feel now like I should've waited for a sunny day, but I was impatient.

Nice emulation of the field of wildflowers! That’s the kind of pic for whic you can’t always wait for everything to be perfect, because often those flowers will not last very long.
I had not seen this topic on this forum until now!
They're not dolls, they're action figures!
