Yep, it was fun ex!ploring.
I feel like I should've done something cosmically significant for Leap Day, but... sigh... I didn't.

An appearance by Lipoca (even if she is incognito as "Red") is always cosmically significant, and she would be the first to tell you as much!
Nicely composed image featuring her favorite blood-like color.
Is the flower left over from Valentine's Day?
Actually, I was wondering about the "cosmic significance" of Leap Day this past week after reading a random article somewhere by an online vendor selling carved crystal skulls hyping up the significance of having the skulls "activated and energized" on Leap Day. The same article briefly outlined the history of Leap Day. The concept of Leap Year has been known for at least a couple of thousand years, and various ways of correcting the calendar have been introduced. The actual date of Leap Day has shifted around over the centuries, depending on who was in charge of deciding such things. There is really no "astronomical significance" to February 29, or to any other day during a Leap Year. Indeed, there is no astronomical significance to a Leap Year in and of itself. It's just a time-keeping adjustment that has been adopted through a combination of tradition and consensus.
In all my life, I'd never really given the "significance" of Leap Year and Leap Day much thought until this past week after I read that silly crystal skulls article... and then I ended up feeling kinda bummed after realizing there's nothing particularly special about the actual day selected as Leap Day. It's not astronomically significant like an equinox or solstice or even a cross-quarter date. The specific day does not have a long and mysterious paranormal or occult or religious history. The concept of "leap year" was an "edict" enacted by Julius Caesar. The "leap day" of 29 days in February began to be adopted around the 1600s, but was not actually formalized in to Western legal systems until relatively recently, in 1750.
So, you and Lipoc... I mean Red... didn't really miss out on anything "cosmically significant" by failing to celebrate in a "cosmically significant" way.
In my case, it gave me one extra day to scrape up the money to pay some upcoming bills. [insert sad-face icon if this forum still offered smiley icons]

These forums are often educational! That's interesting that it goes back that far; I hadn't thought much about it either. I still think it's kinda cool that there is an extra day in the year.
Did you get your crystal skulls activated??
The rose is an artificial one I've had forever.

That little record player is the cutest thing, and so are the accompanying record albums! It looks like a relic right out of the arly 1980s... or maybe late 1970s.
I wonder if the girls will know how to work it? They're kinda young. I hope they figure out how to set the speed for the 33rpm albums to 45rpm (or 78 rpm if the turntable has it) so they can have some laffs.
Do you remember when older record players had a slower speed, I think it was 16rpm? It took me a long time to find out the 16rpm speed was for "talking books." Audio books are not a new concept, they've been around for at least as long as LP records, so since the late-1950s I guess, and they were recorded at a slower speed so they could get more playing time out of each disc.
This is a really fun pic.

Is that a bit of leprechaun gold she's found with which to trim her pretty green frock?

I rarely cheat on the photo being taken "this week". But, since the construction of this little window was for a photoshoot that did happen this week, I'm counting it. Logic
Sunsette briefly checked that set construction was proceeding up to PTFCo specs.

I was fussing over 45-degree joins on the window frame that ended up not showing anyway!
Project is in random photos thread.

With absolutely no concern about climate change, obviously!
Let me guess: based on the subtle hints I'm seeing... Texas again?

Yup. Not one speck. Why I walk or bike or run 2km to the mail and grocery store whenever possible rather than driving, growl about people who leave their lights on and vehicles running unnecessarily, nitpick over reducing waste and recycling, and always seek to live lightly on the Earth. That’s all just a hobby
Yup.
I think I might have made a mistake

Cleburne State Park. The bluebonnets are fabulous, but Scarlett did like the orange flowers.

The flower and park pictures look gloriously colorful and sunny.
I hope the cloud cover cooperated for you. I read about (and saw live stream on TV) Maine having completely clear skies. Don't that just figure.
Ya gotta wonder how the privations "the government" wants to impose on us "little people" to save the planet are gonna do one whit to counteract China and India, not to mention the bozos who sit in their big 4x4 trucks idling in parking lots so they can keep the a/c running in summer and the heat running in winter. Used to drive me nuts in Hawaii seeing a parking lot full of cars idling away for the entire duration of sports team practices so the parents could sit in the a/c while the kids were at practice. I knew then, over a decade ago, that there was no hope for the planet.

If you use gas and pay in physical currency they can't remotely turn off your house for offensive internet posts.

Turn off your house, LOL. I know it sometimes looks like we are headed that way. Holy cow, everything is digital and online so we are already heading down that slippery slope. I was thinking about that this week: there are so many tourist attractions that now require you to purchase tickets online for timed entry – which is really stupid when you are unfamiliar with the area, driving from an hour away and don’t know what time you’ll get there. But I digress. If we still had a bank on the island I would use cash more. But we don’t, so I have got sucked into the digital banking thing more than I like. And we certainly saw in Canada a couple of years ago how people could have their finances frozen for supporting something the government didn’t like!
…..
Anyway – This is our housesit buddy. He’s a lovely cuddle bug.
