It's been a while... Sunsette has to share the camera time with the rest of the gang these days. But she & Scarlett went to Nashville with me for the solar eclipse. Since I had so much camera & eclipse-viewing stuff I was only going to take Sunsette, but then, my goodness, I couldn't leave her sister behind!!! "Pick meeeee!" indeed!
Packing. We were excited....
We started off with a 5 hour delay... the plane broke...
Studying... what do we want to see?
So, arrived 5 hours late, got lost in the dark, wasted all of next day unsuccessfully trying to do an errand and we were all just TIRED.
"Look, I'm a star too!" At the science center. Got lost in traffic & 1-way streets getting here.
At the top of the science center climbing pyramid overlooking the skyline.
Grand Ole Opry. Downtown trip aborted due to traffic jam, so we went here instead.
Opryland Conservatory.
This would be an awesome spot for a dolly convention & photo shoot. Acres of lush indoor jungle... just gorgeous. Plus some funky cartoon flowers for a temporary display, "Alice in Wonderland" theme.
Hotel rooms overlooking the atrium.
And, it's all lit up at night. Absolutely fabulous.
Sunday trip, downtown.
We were all set up for the eclipse and my 300mm lens got broken off the camera
...but we did still have the projector.
To cheer us up a little after the camera tragedy, we went to meet up with fishy and a couple of her gang.
Time to head for home. Scarlett met some Red Cross dolls in a display at the airport.
Augh. NONE of us is in focus at this hour. It's not even bleeping 6 a.m.
We did not arrive home without mishap. Air Canada couldn't land due to fog, diverted to another airport, and abandoned the passengers there when none of us wanted to ride 3 hours back to the airport of origin. We demanded our bags off the plane (which they weren't going to give us) and they basically said "OK here you go; you're on your own." Here are the girls on top of some 15 pounds of camera gear & backpack on my lap in a taxi which 6 random people shared the cost of, to get to our destination.
But, well, we DID get to see the eclipse, in spite of distractions.
Dollyclipse!!!!
