I felt so reluctant to cut up Mr Pumpkin... he was so cute... but, I didn't want to waste him and if I displayed him for longer he would start to decay, and everything is edible.
If it's any incentive for you guys to try it, the seeds, with a little oil & salt plus cinnamon/garlic/herb mix are SO GOOD! If you boil them in salted water for 10 minutes before you roast them they are ridiculously crispy. Lots of recipes online but I found 20 min. at 350F worked fine.

Remains to be seen about the puree... maybe not so good from a big pumpkin but we'll see.

Really? I'd say, not at all. You just need a sharp knife; a small one works better for small details, and you just go slowly; maybe you just poke it in for a short line and then pull it out and change direction... you can make a pattern on paper and trace it on, to get a design you like. You should try it

I keep saying one of these years I'm going to make Halloween costumes for my dolls but never get around to it... Maybe a jackolantern photo shoot would be a more feasible option for me!

Well, as someone who hates sewing I'd take the jack-o'lantern option without a second thought!
