Haha, yeah, me too
Part 6 -- Beyond PUDDLE -- June 28-29
Our visit at TrueFan's draws to a close, and we are on our way again. Here we are at Peoria airport. Weather delays mean sitting around watching the "boarding in 29 minutes" sign keep re-setting, and American Airlines' way of dealing with the worried passengers is to not have anyone at the counter at all.
Didn't notice the sign on the truck till too late or I might've changed the angle!
Leaving Peoria, finally. The flight attendant was really cheery and funny and made people feel better about maybe missing their connections. We'll be OK with a longer layover.
"This was HOW MUCH????"
"Mum, is this enough for dessert?"
Thanks to the delay, I ate all my food and had to cough up $14 for a boring ham on rye bread sandwich and a bottled smoothie. (That's almost $19 CAD.)
The sticker on the sandwich says "I got here just before you." Ha ha. Well, Mr Sandwich didn't have to wait for delayed flights.
Toronto again.
A hot and confusing scramble to get on a bus, then to the subway. We're all a little bit travel-stunned by now.
"Muuummmm... are we there yet??"
Maple Leaf, who hasn't been here on the forum for a while but also went to PUDDLE, very kindly put us up for the night. We met her dolly (and human) (and canine) family.
Thanks to another too-early flight, it was a short night. Maple Leaf took us to the airport. None of us is ready to be up yet.
"Ugghhhh...."
Waiting for another flight. We all vote for not doing the airport thing on consecutive days again.
On our way again. The actual flying part, being up among the clouds and watching the tiny landscape below, is so cool. The airport/customs/delay/logistics thing, is not.
"I've looked at clouds from both sides now...."
FINALLY. We are all back to the car in one piece.
"Yaaayyy!!"
We STILL had one more place to go, an event in Maine, so we went from the airport back across the border again. I fully ex.pected the annoying customs people who've gone through my car on 2 of the last 3 crossings to demand, "You just left Chicago yesterday; why are you driving back into Maine?" The county has a terrible opioid problem and I figured they'd think I was smuggling drugs from Chicago... but they never said a thing.
So we had one more night away, and a quickie photo near the harbour.
And with that, we are finally caught up on PTFCo's summer travels. Thanks for following along, everyone!
Stay tuned... for....
...more adventures...??
