"With our property recon completely roadblocked and nothing left to drive by, Mum decided to go to a peony festival.  There's this ginormous Buddhist institute on PEI, and this was one of their ventures.  The institute isn't without controversy among islanders, but this was the friendliest bunch of event-hosters we ever met.  The driveway was lined with people waving as they directed traffic.  People at the little booths waved at every car that came and went.  They had little games set up and invited all ages to play -- kid-simple puzzles, toss a ring, make some stencils -- for prizes, there were snacks, and tea made with peony petals (yeah, we didn't know that was a Thing either), and everyone got a goodie bag stuffed with ... stuff, from little snacks to tea and a mug and a very nice meditations-type book, and, WE GOT A BOAT!!
"People were amused when Mum ex-plained that we were travellers sharing adventures, and we're not sure where our photo is going to end up, and the person photographing us & Mum didn't speak enough English to tell us.  Oh well...
"This is much less sturdy than our Second Chance -- not to mention it's not waterproof -- so I don't think we'll be sailing it anywhere."
