Introducing.... Lily!
Lily joined the crew at the thrift shop yesterday, where she made it clear she wanted to come home with me.
More pix and her story when I have time to sort them.

Is she a pirate? She looks like a pirate! Her right hand is ready to grip a cutlass, even!

I'm sure Lily appreciates being rescued from the thrift shop. Thrift shops: the dolly equivalent of Devil's Island or The Black Hole of Calcutta.

That's funny; two people mentioned she might be a pirate. It never crossed my mind! I think she's a little too sweet, but, she would certainly fit the era.


I gave Pearl some new eyelashes. She only had one when I got her, and that came off the other day. It was very fiddly, but it worked better than the time I tried to give Scarlett some (fail).
I think she looks more grown-up.
AND, although it's been just about impossible to find out who actually makes these dolls, I found Pearl's box, and it has the same graphics. So whether they're "Cathay Collection" or "Vanessa Ricardi", all three ARE related.

The long lashes fit with her overall look.

Are the lashes applied from the outside, or from inside the head like with a Pullip? You can't open the heads on these, can you?

I wonder if people think Lily might be a pirate because of the way she looks, or because they know you!

No, you can't open their heads.  The lashes are glued along the edge of the eyelid, so, kind of stuck to it and the eyeball.

Aislinn's hair has been annoying ever since I got her.  That was years ago, but life hasn't been conducive to fixing doll hair for quite a while.  I tied a ribbon in it and added an orchid clip and hoped it didn't show in photos, how messy & tangled it was.  I finally got her stock outfit, so, I decided I really MUST fix her hair for her official portrait 


Whyyy do I have so many dolls with ringlets??  Combing hair out in water is easier than dry.

So for now you are wet-combing and not boil-perming?

Good luck with the project. Aislinn looks happy in the second photo. She appreciated the attention.

Where did you find an original costume? Why did she not have an original costume? Was she a "pre-owned" pick-up?

Boil perming isn't necessary if you're not changing the style... her hair was just messy and the curls needed tidying.  I got the outfit from someone on the FB J-Doll group.  She bought a stock doll and wanted to re-dress.  Aislinn came nude, along with Charonne, whose outfit I'd like to find too.  She also has a little holster and gun, but the holster is wonderful pleather and all the straps have come apart; that will take longer to repair and I didn't want to wait to do outfit photos, so...

Aislinn is such a cool action figure! Yup, she'd definitely an action figure now. She's wearing a uniform. And she's even armed! (Or will be, once the supply sergeant finds her a new weapons belt.)

You can't have just one soldier, you know. Maybe Charonne needs a uniform now, too!

Well, I mean.... if asskickery is required, we have Jake & Neytiri, who can contribute some serious muscle... we have 2 samurai, even if they don't wear their stock outfits that often... for pirates we have Victoria, Taryn, Roxann, Marilyn is a Sea Police whatever that is, and don't forget our Public Relations specialist Sofia!  Plus a couple of tigers.  So I think the crew is pretty well equipped

Got these cute tights while I was looking for stock-looking ones for Aislinn.  A colossal $3 extra splurge, and I wasn't sure about them because some of the pictures made them look not too great, but they are really cute.  I thought they suited Dawn's current outfit nicely.

Three bucks for net stockings? Score! Whenever I look for such things (doll scale -- don't get smart), the prices seem to be in the $12 and up range.

Dawn looks full of enthusiasm in this pic. Yeah, she's sitting down, but only to take a quick breather. Look at that eression: she's ready to jump up and go on whatever adventure is next!

Did you make the blue chair? If you found it, did it come "pre-weathered" for that vintage charm, or is the scuffed paint from decades of dolly use?

They were chillin while I slogged to the mainland for a second day that week to pick up my car from a body shop; one more case of You Can't Get That Here.

The chair was a gift from a doll friend who's no longer on here.  It came that way.

I got a couple of glow sticks at an event on Friday.  I wanted to do something with them in a dolly photo, but I accidentally broke (lit) this one last night.  It was surprising to see there was still some life in it tonight.  However, it's kind of hard to show the glow as well as light the dolls.  So here's a less-than-spectacular light-painting effort.


Yuki's still wearing her stock outfit which didn't really work for the scene, so Samantha & Red borrowed her dog to try to teach her some tricks.

Dunno if that doggie can fit thru the ring. That's a lotta hair! Doggie seems skeptical, too.

It was a "Take Back the Night" event at the provincial park here, with some gentle movement notquiteyoga, a "sound bath" and some snacks.

Pic-A-Week is never just one, and I'd like to do more with Kit when there's more light and more quiet.
