davidd's A Doll A Day 2019
Uh oh sad
But I love that you're keeping a sense of humour by taking dolly photos in the midst of the job. Makes it tolerable, I guess!

Or entire HAZMAT suits!

This particular pipe is not as bad as it looks. This is the shower drain... where all the resulting problems started, apparently!

I love the orange jumpsuits & their boots, so very practical.

And here the poor girls thought the matching jumpsuits were simply so they could look cute! Little did they know what was about to transpire!

Yes, much longer than anticipated or planned for. More time, more money... in other words, the usual.

As you mentioned in another comment, I'm probably prolonging the process by pausing to take photos. But yes, having the helpers helps... psychologically, at least!

As a result of the remodeling project taking longer than anticipated and being considerably more challenging, I've been off-line for a bit. But the girls have been busy the entire time:

23 June – Triv and Janie identify the locations of misaligned and randomly spaced floor joists.

(For those who, like me, may not be carpenters by trade or training, floor joists are the lengthwise planks under the floor
to which the flat pieces are attached. Most floor joists are spaced a standard distance apart: 12-inches, 16-inches, or 24-inches
on older homes. In this case, the spacing is haphazard, anywhere between 26 inches and 49 inches.)

24 June – Closet Flange Installation

(A closet flange is the connection on the floor connected to the main drain to which
the toilet/water closet/commode/latrine attaches.)

Janie: "Closet flange: complete!"

Triv: "Until we need to pull it up again to install the flooring."

Janie: "I think we will only need to pull the toilet, not the entire flange."

Triv: "What about the insulation under the floor? That we didn't put in yet? Because we were in a hurry?"

Janie:  ". . ."

25 June – Lying Down on the Job

Janie: "That's probably not the best place to take a nap!"

Triv: "I'm so tired that I don't care anymore."

Hang in there, girls! Only three or four more days; well, okay, maybe five... or, y'know, a week.

Aw! They are very dedicated! Hope they (and you) get a good night's sleep.

Those girls are real troopers. I love the jumpsuits! They’re so cute.

Looks like a lot of work... I'm glad that no serious injuries happened so far! Hang in there!

Looks like you are doing a ton of work, and it's going well. You'll be able to get it finished!

I hope everyone wakes up in one piece!

They're beginning to grumble a bit about conscripted labor.

So far, so good.

Feels like a ton of work... literally, sometimes, with all the lifting and moving things. Dunno about how well it's going.

26 June – Framing, framing, and more framing

I think this step is nearly finished, and it's turning out flat! And level!

(When you're talkin' floors, flat and level are important!)

We're pretty much gonna be sticking with Smart Doll carpentry photos until this project is finished... which may yet be a while.

Yikes! Get up, Triv!
These are so fun. A lot of the tools look almost the right scale for them... like if they were using really big industrial equipment.
I imagine a household DIY blog hosted by these two would be a lot of fun to read. Real how-to but illustrated with dolly photos!
Good luck with the project... hope you'll be enjoying a re-done bathroom real soon.

That is a fun idea! I was so pleased today to discover that my floor is turning out level and flat... the original was, like, really really bad... that I had grand visions of hosting my own HGTV or DIY Network TV show!
LOL
Such a show would be far more popular if it were hosted by Smart Dolls!

This projects gives the term 'dollhouse' a whole new dimension! Not only house made for dolls, but now also a house made by dolls!

Bringing out the big guns now. They may grumble, but I think they’re secretly having a blast.

I have to agree in that a DIY show run by Smart Dolls would be infinitely more entertaining/watchable.

What with David's Smart Doll DIY show, Alliecat's crew's travel show, and neon_jellyfish's steampunk show, I think we have the start of a Dolly Market network here...

They're not-so-secretly hoping to have a blast; they keep asking about dynamite.

Like Bob the Builder, only live action... sort of!

Between the clutter and the maintenance issues in this house, I'm beginning to think about dynamiting the whole mess myself sad

You could always do some Youtube DIYs...
