Poor little string guy being terrified of Count Orlock.

It isn’t really the Count’s fault he’s got a “scary” accent.

I think that what gave Freddy such a shock was the fact that Count Orlok is a puppet and therefore not supposed to be alive (well, undead), yet he is...

Things are becoming a bit too frightful even for one of the denizens of Spooky Cemetery Land! Orlock seems to be resigned to the effect he has on people.

I haven't mastered it, I am a vampire have vampire accent naturally LOL

Well, it was always like this...

At least Will seems to be at ease with him!

Well, he's a (un)living, talking puppet of one of history's scariest vampires...

Will is Orlok's puppeteer, and in a way, he is scarier than Orlok, because the Count is a dangerous vampire - he's scary, but also pretty straightforward. You never know with Will... They make a great duo.

I think that the bloodsucking part might be bigger problem than the accent, but in Freddy's case, it's mostly the 'this inanimate puppet isn't inanimate at all' thing.

Day 286

Speaking of Freddy...

I have several of these 'voodoo' dolls. They had them in the bookstore, and they were supposed to be talismans, some were supposed to help you with studies, others to bring you courage, help with love life... And then there was Freddy. As in Freddy Krueger. So of course I got him. His hat is wrong shape and he has a fork instead of clawed glove (there's only so much you can do with a tiny doll made of cord, so I'm fine with that). I've since seen a better one, with red cord for skin parts, more accurate colors on t-shirt and proper hat, but I like this guy. I think he's much less horrifying, but still has some of those powers and could cause quite some trouble if he wanted. He's also quite lighthearted, unlike the original.

There's something kind of adorable about this little Freddy... Which is not a thing I thought I would ever say about that character, but whoop, there it is. I've seen these dolls around a lot myself, and considered picking up a few. I think they would make great props for some of the bigger deziens of the Room, and on their own, these dolls have a great charm to them. The filtered image has a great 'horror' vibe to it, perfect for the upcoming holiday!

Your artistically filtered photo effectively turns "little string guy" into quite a terrifying vision!
They're not dolls, they're action figures!

Ahh! I’ve seen them a while ago in a newsagents / gift shop. When you described what they were supposed to do, I remembered them. Actually, I think I got one for Elfy at one time.

He’s cute, and not very scary at all. I thought he was Freddy Krueger, but I don’t like horror movies very much, so wasn’t totally sure.

Some of those little string dolls are really cute. I wonder how long it takes to make one. I bet the practised creators whip them out in no time.
I have a little "Avatar" one I got a little after the movie came out. I should introduce her to Jake. I think he might be disappointed tho... LOL

Clearly being a red-head in Oddwickshire leads to good fortune. There's almost a sinister element in the bottom picture - these three powerful women looking over you...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that having red hair in Oddwickshire actually brings you good luck. Not that you need them in order to be successful, but it definitely helps! Sinister is definitely the word. They're mostly kind and protective (especially Her Insane Majesty! *wink wink*), but you don't want to get on their bad side...

I think it would be triumfeminate? Because 'vir' literally translates as 'man'. But even then, that would mean the three of them are equal, which they're not. Rosamunda is the queen of witches, and Callidora is the queen of vampires, but Her Insane Majesty is the queen of absolutely everything.

LOL Oh, the surprise, and fear, and ruthless efficiency, and almost fanatical devotion to the Pope Queen and nice (black and) red uniforms - oh dang! But surprise and fear are still nothing compared to being poked with the soft cushions by these three.

The first one is the unfiltered one, although it kinda looks like it has filters, because of the dolls' color scheme.

Day 288

Drama-Lalas.

Gosh, these dolls are much more pink than I realized.

De-pinkified version.
