Edit Reason: I thought of something else to say :P
)
“Hey everyone, here we are again! This dispatch thing is pretty cool, right?? Thanks to Mum getting a newer phone.
"Yes, davidd, the gardens are pretty fabulous and worth visiting at any time of year if you ever get up that way.
“We had an inauspicious start to the day…. The last Airbnb bed was like a brick and Mum says she might as well have tried to sleep on the floor. When you’re plastic you can sleep anywhere, I guess...
“We’re on our way after three hours’ sleep for Mum... With two delays already, before we even got to the airport, one flight would get in after the next one left so they had to rebook us. So here we are in Vancouver airport again with three hours to wait. At least, the muzak here is really good!
“Here’s some native artwork. When the lady who was watching asked, Mum got to use Mark Hogancamp’s line from ‘Welcome to Marwen’... ‘I never go anywhere without my backup.’ Almost deadpan too.... “
“Thanks for looking!

I hope the rest of the trip will be free of delays and re-booking. Amazing native art!

Ah yes, quality time spent waiting in airports! It looks like this one is interesting, at least!
Yes, the "dispatches from the field" have been very interesting and fun! Glad you were able to squeeze in time at the international wire office to get these reports out to us!

“Hello again! The artwork was all done on big slabs of wood set upright on the base.
“Well, this is what we get for scheduling our travel over Friday the 13th I guess… We are sending this dispatch from a Tim Hortons because we are stranded on the mainland… The ferry is not running because of wind. We have to wait another six hours to find out if the late trip will run. Has Mum mentioned that she’s over it with the ferry???
“Here’s one more photo of our trip; Auntie Daesani tucked in at last night’s Airbnb which was much better. The irony of this photo is that there is toilet paper on the shelf under her. The world is going crazy… Here as well.
“We’re a little more thankful than usual for this happy place amid the insanity of the Internet. Cheers everyone… Stay safe and stay healthy.

What a cozy little bunk space! Cozy and psychologically comforting because of the stockpile of essential life-saving supplies!
Ferries delayed by wind, huh? After which, the ferries will be delayed by passenger quotas. Can't have too many people traveling together in an enclosed space, right?
Unless it's an airplane. There doesn't seem to be any limit to the number of people who are allowed to squeeze in to a metallic cylinder to breathe recirculated air for four to six hours.

I dunno... Air Canada claims that their air circulation scrubs 99.9% of particulates and viruses out of the cabin air. A seatmate on one of my flights said there were very few people travelling the other day when he flew. Like, a 40-50 seat plane with only 15 people on it.
Some idiot has already started the rumour about shutting down our ferry for a week or two to isolate the island. I wish people would quit speculating and sharing crap, because someone will always take it seriously and pass it on. Besides, half the island has been south for March break and is now returning. So it’s probably too late.
