Ha ha, she looks a bit like my grade 4–5 teacher. LOL did not love her!
That has been a versatile setting.

It looks rather like a torture chamber. Somewhere she sends the misbehaving students?

That has been a versatile setting.

My grade 4 teacher, Mrs. Watson, and I clashed over various issues; yet oddly enough, grade 4 was my favorite year in school. Perhaps that is more a commentary of how challenging things became in later years more than suggesting that grade 4 was good.

A versatile setting... or an over-used setting. I have some plans, should I ever get around to implementing them, for some "inserts" that will, in theory, change up the appearance with relatively little inconvenience.

Isn't that how many lower elementary students view their schools?

Or at least, they did when I was a kid in school. By the time I was teaching, I actually had students cry when school breaks came along, saying they had nothing to do at home and that school was fun and that they'd miss their friends. These days, kids don't get to go outside and play with other kids in the neighborhood, I guess. They can't just ride their bikes to the end of the block and play in somebody else's yard or orchard or sand pit. Kids live in housing developments and apartments that don't have kid-friendly spaces, and parents are afraid to let kids out lest they be kidnapped or something.

Ah, for the Good Old Days when school was torture and we couldn't wait for the weekends, holidays, and breaks!

12 May - Novi Stars Vera Tabray

.

This release was challenging to find in the States. I believe I purchased this one from a European seller via eBay. I should have left her boxed. Boxed examples are selling... not asking price, selling price... in the four-hundred dollar and up range. I've not put this figure to much use since opening the carton, so I would not have missed out on much had I left her boxed. But... that was back in, like, 2013 or something, so water under the bridge, eh?

It was such a crazy price that I felt compelled to offer my not-mint-in-box example on eBay. To my surprise, it sold for $145 USD... in under fifteen minutes!

But... I had two of them, you see!  LOL So I could sell one and keep one and be money ahead!

However... $145, and sold in fifteen minutes? I obviously under-priced the poor little thing. So I listed the second one, at $195.

That one took an hour to sell.   Oh My

I guess Novi Stars are a hot market right now -- depending on which ones you have.

I might miss her a little bit, because, y'know, a three-eyed alien skeleton butterfly creature. However, she's only been out of the storage tub maybe twice in nine years, and I'd nearly forgotten I had her, and Novi Stars hair is a frizzy PITA to deal with. I'm hoping the Novis are going to appreciative homes, and now I'll have a little bit of "hobby money" to play with.

Plus, it saved Pullip Steampunk Zappa from going on the auction block.

Oh, that black hole at the center of the galaxy that was recently imaged? I was reading about that, too! Pretty cool!

Here in North America we should be able to see a total lunar eclipse on Sunday night, cloud cover permitting. Not as cool as a black hole, perhaps, but it should be interesting.

13 May - Novi Stars Ina Ferna
.
More Novi Stars. Ina's head lights up with a "flame" effect! It still works, too, after eight or nine years in storage!
.

.
Are the Ina Ferna twins in danger of heading to eBay? Well... yes. Being relatively common Novi Stars, however, they do not command nearly the price of Vera Tabray, so they will be offered in a lot comprised of twelve Novi Stars dolls in total. I'll be keeping a few Novi Stars, but I have far more than I need, and they have been ignored for years, so it is time to move them along; especially if so doing can fund other things more in alignment with my current interests.

The Novi Stars were such an interesting line, but not super versatile, from what I recall.

That’s very cool that tge gimmick still works after all this time - I would have thought that the batteries would have degraded over that time.

And it’s sensible to move along items that don’t hold your interest any longer - I’m sort of doing that with some of my yarn, offering it up in various swaps I take part in. I can move it along to a more loving home & then get stuff I like to replace it.
Of course, I still need to knit faster to use it all xp

Yes, I am trying to work more on letting go of things that no longer serve me as well. At the moment I am completely stalled with Dad‘s stamp collection because I was going to inquire about selling it but looking through all the stamps, they are really cool. So tonight I am sticking stamps in albums instead of doing something else. I started a little “course” on decluttering… We’ll see how much help that is.
I hope your Novi Stars end up with someone who really appreciates them. They must do, to spend that much!
Would love to see this lot before you put them up for sale. never mind, found em LOL every once in a while I think I would grab an Anne Arctic if I saw her cheap. Which isn’t likely.

The Novi Stars were made of a hard plastic and had limited articulation, with joints only at the shoulders and hips, with a limited range of movement at the neck. One arm was molded in a bent-elbow position. They were cute and odd, but they actually cost more than the Monster High line they were designed to compete with, while offering less "play value" in a smaller size figure.

I have a difficult time letting go of things that belonged to my parents and grandparents. Additionally, while the things I have from them have a lot of sentimental value, very little of it has any significant monetary value. Hard as it is to admit, most of it simply isn't worth selling.

I see that Anne Arctic, whom I never had, is one of the "scarce" releases that commands a high price on the secondary market -- considerably more than her "hot" sister Ina Ferna!

A 'course' on decluttering? An online course, I hope, so the course materials not add to the clutter!  LOL

That said, I recommend the book Clutter's Last Stand by Don Aslett. I have read a lot of decluttering books over the years, and Aslett's first decluttering book stands out as the most practical and the funniest!

*cough* Why don't you try them??
There are 1 or 2 toy photographers that have got some kind of endorsement deals, aren't there....? I think I've seen mention of this but can't remember which of the ones I follow that it was.
Another great series -- I love that the girls' shadow on the fence is in the frame, and the realism of rolling out the carpet that looks just like a person when caught doing something and the flash goes off in their face.

Yes, an online thing on decluttering -- so I only have to contend with trying to watch videos on our abysmal internet.
