davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2024
OK, I am suitably impressed with the slow hand-hold.
So you figured out how to get the photos off it.  Or just reformatted the card again?  That would suck -- you lose your photos every time.  I tend to leave many of them as the last-resort backup.

(03-14-2024, 02:21 AM)davidd Wrote: House Held Up by Car Jacks
Kamohai and Tristyn buy a house that's so termite eaten they don't even need a hammer for demo. And more problems appear as they peel back the layers as they discover a deck being held up by a rope and a foundation that's on car jacks.
Yup, that's the one.  They found more termites under the floor (the peeled-back layers) and when they took the tiles off the wall in the bathroom, the outside wall split apart.  This one was double-wall, at least part of it.  So I learned about that single-wall thing just last night.  And when they mentioned that among other things, single-wall is, of course, much less noise-proof, I went "oh hell no".
It's lovely that they are fixing up houses and saving them, but... the prices make me really angry!  The idea that someone wants $700K+ (over $1M CAD!!!) for a fallingdown piece of crap, or jacks up their long-awaited price when someone actually shows interest, just makes me so mad!  There are some houses in BC like that.  Half a million for a derelict mess, nevermind being in a good location.  NS is going that way too, sadly.
I am listening to dump trucks and giant bulldozers yet again (like, this is every day, here) and wondering WTF else I have to do to find a quiet home  Cry

Didn't think of the bitcoin thing.  I don't get that, at ALL.

DIY fixing is always good to learn.  Until maybe some really picky buyer (which I would be, now) wants a really thorough home inspection.  I'm afraid of that happening with my house.  sad
What does Mr Fixit there think, about water coming in through the electrical conduit?  This seems potentially Really Bad, but dumbass builder put the plastic pipe with the wires under the garage floor, so if it's cracked under there somewhere, there's no getting at it.  Of course the wires are insulated, but....  slash    I need to google it but it's beyond my daily coping list so far.

He's a serious-looking fellow. Is the sculpt someone in particular?

I've been told the head sculpt is modeled after an actor named Josh Brolin (son of actor James Brolin), who featured in some of the popular super hero movies. I'm not familiar with Josh Brolin or with most of the super hero movies, so I cannot speak to the accuracy of the likeness. I bought it a while back because I was working on a character to be "the dad" in a photo story.

Dark Future (2023) by Glenn Beck

Dark Future: Uncovering the Great Reset's Terrifying Next Phase (2023) by Glenn Beck.

Non-fiction book details activities by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and other groups to undermine privacy and centralize monetary, political, and social control.

Curiously, this book about a political topic barely mentions Donald Trump at all; less so than any of the last several non-fiction books I've read. Even the book about Internet Influencers dedicated more words to Trump than does this one.

Anyway, the short summary: learn to love eating weeds and bugs and having every aspect of your life dictated by the wealthy elite. Unless you're among the wealthy elite, in which case, you're good.

For a book about "the end of life as we know it," the author manages to elicit a fair number of chuckles.

I'm not familiar with superhero movies or celebrities in general either.

I feel like if I read "The Great Reset" and whatever the other one was called, I'd know more about its author's, um, enterprises, than 90% of the people who are hollering about it on FB. But it's like the really tedious homework that you "ought to" do, and don't want to. Many other things I'd rather read. So I guess you're a bit ahead of me there.

...did you give up on Dal House...?

As the author of "Dark Future" refers to Klaus Schwab's books as "agonizingly boring." This book by Glenn Beck was a relatively quick and informative read (even at 430 pages of text and another 70 pages of end notes (which I only skimmed through)), and even has a few laughs in it. I may look for his earlier book, titled "The Great Reset," in which he dives deeper in to the nuts and bolts of The Great Reset.

I'm taking a break from The Dal House forum for a while. And from the OneSixthFigures forum. And from the Action Man Mobile Ops forum.

Funny, you were initially resistant to transition over to Dal House.  yay

Well, there are a few more people over there. Or, there were. Quiet there too.
I wasn’t reluctant to post there. I just didn’t want to see this forum get abandoned completely because “oh well, go post there instead”.

More fixer-uppering eh?
I got a chuckle out of a line on an HGTV show this afternoon: “Everything sucks and it’s broken”.

There are... or were!  yay  Usually, you were the only forum member commenting on my Doll a Day pics. No need for you to comment on the same pic twice. Now that DOLLY MARKET has stabilized, I'll stick with posting ADAD here for now.

"EVERYTHING SUCKS AND IT'S BROKEN." Pretty much describes the entire world right now, doesn't it? Or so it seems to me. Maybe I'll make that my forum user title.

Well... can't make people participate, as we've found here sad
I don't know why the owner here won't divest herself of it if she doesn't care. She actively posts on a crafts FB page she manages. I posted a comment, basically "Hi, would you be interested in letting someone else manage Dolly Market?" Zero response as she continues to post. Irritated

But you should come over to Dal House and post something "green" for my March challenge.
I always tried to make different comments in each forum. There were some different discussions in each.
It's always fun to see doll photographers' behind-the-scenes.

New Hat for Skipper Mike

.

I'm not sure yet if I like this "nautical cap" for this character or not. A member of one of the action figure forums sent it to me, thinking it would be better for the "boat captain" character. I am not sure if this cap is an improvement. Perhaps I've become accustomed to the smaller "trucker cap" the figure has been wearing and it will take me a bit to get used to this one.

.

I'll be AWAY FROM KEYBOARD for about a week. I don't know if I'll have a chance to pop up a pic tomorrow before I disappear. I might pop in tomorrow, or I might not. Either way, I should be back on or around Tuesday the 26th.
