Quote:And the dress is really cute too. Did you make it?

I got it on ebay... it was listed as a Barbie dress, but it doesn't have a tag in it. Doesn't look homemade, though.

I really need to get back to dolly sewing this summer (and so many other things... these last few months of school have been a killer... I have a week and a half left and I might not make it...)

Aww... hope you find a last spurt of energy for the final week & a half. And then be able to enjoy doing a bit of "nothing" along with the dolly sewing. You're in the final stretch -- you can make it!! smile

Aw, thanks. I've made it through another week, anyhow. And only one week left-- but so much to do in that week!

Week twenty-four
I'm dog-sitting for my brother's dog, and this toy of his was too cute not to incorporate into a photo.
Gloriana is my current mood. The avocado will (hopefully) be my mood by next weekend smile

Haha, that's so cute. I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting the happy little pineapple I saw in Hawaii.
Her shirt is cute and I like the running shoes too.

They say the trick is to keep your eyes on the horizon and not lose sight of where you're going. So, keep your eyes on the Week After Next, and before you know it you'll be there.
(Says the person who sees only a crapload of obstacles between here and a horizon she wants to get to... slash )
Well, pets and dolls are both great therapy.
Hope you have a good -- and easy -- week.

In my ex-perience, when I do that I immediately trip over a rock or tree root.

Blonde Gloriana is gloriously blonde and adorably cute. Her lost-in-though ex-pression lends to her alluring-ness.

Well, I made it through the week, and picked up a couple of Rainbow High dolls along the way... Alliecat's and Lejays' lovely pictures must have been slowly infiltrating my subconscious smile

Week twenty-five
All my pictures came out blurry sad Next time I'll have to take them outside, but it's ridiculously windy today, so I didn't.

I got both girls second hand. (I find Pullips hard to unbox, and Rainbow High sounds worse!) Vanessa Tempo came early this week. I like her face the best of all the RH girls, and the rainbow braids are pretty cool. She came with all her stock clothes/ accessories, but I'm not fond of crop tops (which seem to be a staple in the RH wardrobe), so I switched out her shirt with one TrueFan gave me awhile back (originally meant for Blythe).

I want to rename her, but haven't come up with anything yet. (Actually, I really liked the name Lyric, but then discovered that's the name of a different RH girl, so I guess not...)

Emi Vanda arrived Friday. I got her nude, but bought a dress from the same seller, and spent a little time yesterday making alterations.

Original dress, from Barbie Eleanor Roosevelt:

Emi Vanda, in altered dress:

I'm going to keep working on her style, but I love her soft pink and purple hair! I'll probably rename her, too.

The girls together:

Overall verdict: I am in love with the sturdiness of their bodies, their articulation, and their awesome hair! I am less enthused about their overly large, high heeled feet (the only shoes I could find that fit were Mimiwoo sneakers), but I can work with that. I definitely see a few more in my future...

Oooo, you got her! And a sister too. Congrats on the new arrivals. Yes, their hair really is nice (once you get any gunk out of it). The purple dress pattern is cute. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Vanessa. She’s really cute too. I’m impressed with altering a dress for skinny Barbies to fit that body. Was it difficult? Good to know that Mimiwoo sneakers are an option. What size did you get?
In the last photo they look like two girls who have completely different styles and interests, but still manage to be good friends.
Happy to help a little with enabling  xp

I have been plagued by both of those issues myself this past week or so.

It's fun to see the popularity of the Rainbow High line growing like it is, and the redressing and customizing that owners are doing.

I think the Eleanor Roosevelt doll was one of the plus size/ curvy/ whatever-they-call them Barbies. The dress was HUGE! All I did was remove the sleeves and cut about three inches off the skirt and hem everything up. The bodice is still pretty baggy on the RH girl, and I might try to reposition the velcro or add a snap at some point, but it's good enough for now.

I did try a regular-size Barbie dress on her, though, and it fit OK... couldn't completely close the Velcro in the back, but it looked fine from the front (though a tad long). Pants did not work, as they wouldn't get over those wide hips. I'll try to do a more extensive see-what-fits ex.periment and take some pictures. The Mimiwoo sneakers were the Pullip/ Blythe size, which is all I have on hand. I tried a pair of Mimiwoo tall boots first (which would have gone better with the dress), but those didn't fit. There are a lot of RH outfit pieces for sale for decent-ish prices on ebay and Mercari, so I might get some pants and shoes there.

Cool. And now that I'm not on a teeny phone screen, are those actually cattleya orchids on the dress?? grin
I'll have to see if any of my Mimiwoo boots that are a bit big for the Groove girls, will fit Poppy or Daphne.

She looks very serene.
Once again I find myself wishing my hair was the same colour as a doll’s LOL
And that’s just the cutest pattern on the dress!
Canada ain’t much better as far as the gloom goes, unfortunately. I always feel that doing creative things brings a little bit of light.
