I snapped a few de-boxing photos of the George Washington Barbie. Not good photos by any means, just some quick snapshots, including some detail shots of the jacket, which a few people have asked about.
I'm not a fabric eert, but to me the jacket appears to be a heavy nylon or nylon blend. It definitely has a plastic-like sheen to it. And the pink color is intense. To me, it does not appear that the jacket would accept dye particularly well. Also, the jacket is quite detailed with a number of black velvet details sewn on. I'm not sure how dying or recoloring the jacket would work without fairly major disassembly.
The jacket is also sewn on to the figure. Removing the jacket or any part of the costume would require snipping numerous threads.
