4-degrees in Canadian degrees is almost 40 American degrees. So we're lookin' at 4 to 5 Canadian degrees every night this coming week here in Utah -- which is above freezing so YAY!

Not sure how I feel about the C&H fan art. I wonder what Bill Watterson thinks? I know there was a notable thing about Calvin growing up. I haven't looked at much of it.

There's always "fan art" of pretty much any character or entertainment franchise. Probably even more now with AI creating images with a few keystrokes. No talent required.

I'm surprised that people are still generating C&H fan art. I mean, it's been gone for thirty years now.

Your photos are certainly colorful. The eyes on that little mini are spectacular, both in color and in ekspression. She's intense.

Yes they are.  I left some patches in the backyard, but was sad to mow down pretty much everything in the front yard.  I used to do creative mowing out there, but, the fewer flowers in the yard, the fewer targets for the horde

Very late this week, after a round of computer glitches (thanks for the update I didn't ask for, Microsoft?) and a brain glitch (ugh, life).  More photos to come but I'm done for tonight.
This is probably the biggest mushroom I've ever seen out back.  There were several, but this was the biggest.

That is an impressive mushroom. It looks like a fat pancake or a flying saucer! The fairies must have been working their magic!

Did you catch any of the Tall Ship parade on television? The broadcast network coverage was terrible, but I found a halfway decent website that tells a bit about each ship.

Alas, I did not   I'm too preoccupied most of the time to do much outside of getting through the day.  I did follow a bit of news about the fuss over Clearwater though.

Lea & Kit got a turn for pic-a-week. 
The light was gone from where I wanted to shoot by the time the girls went through the wardrobe department, and the last bits of sun were in the part of the yard overlooked by Isengard, so i didn't want to shoot there.  Since I only took 3 pictures, I'll just put them all here.

The pics turned out well despite the muted sunlight. Still active and cheery in style.

I had not heard anything about Clearwater. Seems like the rules for participation were spelled out clearly and they chose to violate those requests. They could have flown their banners before and after the parade. They chose to "make themselves a target," probably hoping for publicity. Poor strategic choice would be my assessment.

There's virtually no news coverage of the Five Sisters Cup race. Based on Facebook posts, it looks like the German ship won... again.

Clearwater was Clearwatering. Apparently advocacy has been a main part of their mission for decades; I mean, it's their Thing. They were in previous parades of sail with banners about whatever issues. There also seems to be some confusion about what was actually in the captains' handbook about what was, or wasn't, allowed -- commercial vs. politcal statements. Clean water is "political"? The USCG showed up with their big-ass gun and yelled at them to turn around and leave -- they weren't given an option to take down the banners and continue; it wasn't even offered. They got way more publicity from all that than if they hadn't been kicked out, and while some people don't seem to agree, it sounds like the majority of those commenting support them.

The dianthus were supposed to be annuals, so I was really surprised when they came back last summer. They all came back again this year too. I didn't get pix when they were at their peak so now there are some spent buds. Still pretty striking clumps of red though.

Victoria is quite gorgeous, with a stunningly eye-catching color scheme.

I love dianthus! They often keep blooming year after year!
