... kinda suggests a sci-fi / horror movie vibe to me. Yes, quite normal to have hatches in Sept. & even into October. I worry about the late ones being too late to get where they need to go. They are the offspring of the summer breeding generation.
Sadly, a bluejay got one of the first 2.

Well... she dresses so as to emulate an insect, and she raises (what are to her) giant insects. Reminiscent of "giant creature" movies like The Food of the Gods, and rather like a film I happened to watch just last week, The Wasp Woman, in which a woman turns in to a mutant wasp-like creature after ingesting a serum made from the royal jelly of queen wasps.
Plus, y'know, Mothra, in which a giant moth is controlled (to an extent) by two miniature women.
And the lighting, with shadows emulating the black stripe pattern of the butterfly, is atmospheric.

They look like they're having a nice little conversation over the butterfly

That looks very relaxing. As much as I love butterflies, I think I'd find the very disconcerting if they were actually that size compared to me!

Well, if they were friendly, I'd be OK with some me-size insects. Riding a dragonfly would be fun!

I was going to say “I wish I could fly south too.” Ha! And then this happened literally overnight. It’s still summer here! How wonderful >sigh< The crew is in Texas on a housesit and we saw the annular eclipse. Yay!!

The weather is amazing!!! Stores are putting out flowers and veggies for fall planting! Like they do at home in June. People are planting gardens NOW. Everything at home is dead. Man, I wish I could live in a climate like this. I’m running around in shorts and tank top in freaking October
Not too many adventure pics at the moment, but yesterday we visited Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch.
(And someone is losing their mind. I was so very tired and running on fumes that I thought I had set that hot pot down on the countertop. I didn’t remember but when I saw the mark later I assumed I had done it. It turns out HOMEOWNER LADY did it – and although the manual says don’t put hot pots on the counter, she didn’t point out “this is what can happen”. I thought if she had done it she would have said. So, WHEW!!! IT WASN’T ME!!!!
They appear to be happy with me as a sitter. Both are very nice. And the cats kind of decided they sort of liked me toward the end of the week.)

Scarlet looks so cheerful! Glad the countertop turned out to be a non-issue.

I almost bought a pineapple the other day. They cost less than pumpkins. Go figure.
So while Alliecat's away the slugs will play, eh? That's too bad. Do you think there will be seeds worth salvaging in your semi-pumpkin? Perhaps it can regenerate next year.
The girls look as cute as can be out there. Nicely plausible poses.

I love the poses but aren't they a little chilly?
