davidd’s A DOLL A DAY 2021
The problem with tatts on a doll is that they're permanent, unless you could buy a sleeve that looked like tattoos. Tattoos are very mainstream now, but if you get the right combination they look good. Evie wants a Tiger tattoo like the one I have on my arm from the 2017 Premiership, but I have resisted her entreaties thus far.

She’s a Tiger for life. Once you bond to a team that’s it.

I’m enjoying the Phicen February a lot. What I struggle with is finding different comments to make - there’s only so many “nice outfits / background/ lighting” I can do without feeling like I’m not really thinking about what I’m saying.

And that sentence got away from me somewhere ?

A non-tattooed rocker is certainly a rebellious figure nowadays!

… But the place could do with some colour, so she should go ahead and hang it up.

Oh, that’s a cool guitar! My crew has a couple, but with shipping and Canadian exchange, I’m not sure I want to spend nearly $40 for another… Even if it’s pink.

It sure is quiet here. At least some of us in colder climates are taking fewer pictures, and people do get busy with real life stuff, unfortunately.

Oh! There is the lady with my teenage the awesome dress! She is beautiful - and I really like that she's smiling. Many of these heads tend to have a neutral look that, paired up with their realism, somehow comes across rather as a 'mean' look at this scale. To me, at least.

I'll join those who admire the cool guitar! But the whole photo is nice, with the girl, her clothes and the motion! I have several roughly 1:6-scale and quite nice replica guitars that I found in a Dollar Store-type shop on a vacation we had in France a couple of years ago - but there isn't a pink one among them! I do have a blue (a replica of Noel Gallagher's Epiphone Supernova), which goes nicely with my musician Hatsune triplets, but I'm sure Miku herself (LOL version) would love a pink one, being the pink lover she is (she is mostly running around in pink, leaving the blues to her sisters). Though I rather imagine her with a pink keytar - and I don't think I've ever come across mini keytars, let alone pink ones. I really love the amplifier too, by the way, and that's also a doll prep wishlist item on my never-ending doll prep list grin

Wow, those crystal skulls look fabulous! Thank you for the link - it went right onto my wishlist! Only wishlist for now, because I've  pretty much overspent on dolly stuff in February already, and there are certain purchases waiting in the line that I am prioritising and saving the money for.

I can't speak for others, but - since I'm also among those who are more silent recently - I'd like to point out that I don't have anything against Phicen February. I find your photos of these super-realistic ladies entertaining - but there's an ugly and certainly not entertaining monster (work - more specifically, my current main project at work) that is eating into my personal time in the last couple of weeks like it hasn't been fed for years, and this week it has even grown a second head in the form of work-related studies and a corresponding exam. I am counting the days until they are over (the exam should be tomorrow - the project is a never-ending beast that should already have ended in December. Then in January. Then in February (yes, tomorrow) - but it has just slipped again. I really hope next week is finally the week it's over, but at this point I'll only believe it when I actually see it). Spending many of  my non-working hours with work, and then the remaining hours as a useless, burnt-out and exhausted potato, is definitely not my preferred setup.

ETA: I forgot I wanted to join in the tattoo discussion too ^^' I don't know if this would be a viable option on the rubbery Phicen bodies, but several of my Pullips and J-dolls have water transfer nail stickers as tattoos (similar to how I gave Yuki snowflakey eyelids). You can buy those readily-made, but you can also buy printable water transfer paper and print anything you like on it (like that certain tiger wink ). I don't intend to remove the tattoos from mine, but I *think* those come off with rubbing alcohol, which (AFAIK!) is OK to use on hard plastic. They usually have a shiny finish, which I first thought would bother me, and planned to fix with MSC, but I never bothered in the end, as it isn't that visible or annoying on such small areas.

Better not let Evie see this post, she'll be bugging me for a temporary tatt if our Tigers win another Grand Final.

I wasn't necessarily referencing a dearth of comments on the Phicen figs specifically, but rather, a pronounced slowdown of activity on the forum as a whole as February has progressed. Losing werepuppy and neon-jellyfish's daily photos has definitely contributed to a slowdown of forum activity.

I sincerely appreciate the almost daily check-ins... always interesting and amusing check-ins... from you and Elfy. Sometimes what "appears" to be a slowdown in activity is merely a result of time zone differences and when we are able to check in from our different locations on the globe. And Loona has become a cheerful, active presence when her schedule allows. Alliecat truly is a "night owl," with posts appearing in the wee hours.

The Elvis poster will be hung in a place of honor... eventually. It's actually a relic from the Pinky Street beach house I used to have... back when I lived in an actual beach house... on almost the best beach in the world. I actually got really depressed after taking yesterday's picture, thinking about no longer living in a beach house on almost the best beach in the world.

Yeah, strange how February with the cold weather is turning out to be busy! I guess that's good... if "busy" contributes to our incomes.

I agree, most of the "neutral ex-pression" heads for female action figures look rather stern, or even hostile. I actually tossed a head in to the burning fireplace a couple of nights ago; it was either too large or too small for the bodies I had, the color did not match anything, and the look on the face was just annoying. I got tired of it rolling around in my storage tub and in a fit of pique I sent it to a fiery doom. I should probably do that with a lot of stuff I own.

The little crystal skulls are cool. My hobby funds have been tapped out, too, but I did come in to a few dollars... so I placed an order another set of skulls, so I can create a ring of thirteen crystal skulls and manifest my desires! Mwah hah hah hah hah!

What's the deal with February becoming a Time Vortex this year?

Her jeans are really cute.

If I were any of the non-explorer crew, I would be very hesitant to go into the basement (or the attic) as you never know what’s hidden there.

A bit like Loona, I’m very busy at work at the moment - a large project for the business means I’m working full-time hours rather than my usual part-time hours. I didn’t think it was going to have this much effect on my spare time to do fun stuff, but I’m knackered by Friday & unmotivated to do much dolly-photos.

What's the deal with February becoming a Time Vortex this year?

February is unbelievable... and it manages to do this in less days, even! Coming to think of it, maybe February is the pissed of youngest sibling among the months, hating the fact that it's shorter, and doing all kinds of mischief to compensate and grab attention?

Wow, well, that sounds pretty unex-pected - but it must have felt relieving, given the frustration the head has given you. Maybe that's also how it feels when you break a guitar amidst the sound euphoria on stage? I always wondered what that might feel like, but at the same time never thought I could bring myself to do something like that myself (luckily, I can't play guitar, and you can't do this with a piano Tongue ). Was the head not worth reselling? When it comes to my collections, I am very money-grubbing (which might not be the correct word to use here), so I can hardly bring myself to give stuff away (to charity stops and that sort, that is. Gifting stuff to people I know is different) or toss them, if there's a resale potential, even if it only brings little money. Someone I know asked me once if it's really worth the time and effort to resell stuff, because I don't necessrily *need* that money. He was right in both. I could afford not bothering to resell stuff, and I don't like the work and time that goes into reselling things - but there are two main factors that make me continue: when I get some money back this way, it makes me feel good to know it isn't just more money taken away from my general budget, but money I've already spent, and now only repurposed into something I like more; and it also makes me feel good to see those items not needed by me finding new homes where they are appreciated. Comments like "I've been looking for this for a long time", "I had this as a child and it was given away by my parents, so I'm happy to have it back", or "my daughter refused to let me clean it before she went to bed, holding it" just fill me with overwhelming happiness.

Aww, Toni is cute! I, too, really like her jeans, and her sneakers look fabulous! She should watch out for those loose laces though! It reminds me of a *very* short time during my teens, when I, for some weird and unknown reason, thought it's cool and rebelish to run around with my boots' laces untied The boots being high, unisex and designed also to fit thicker ankles, my thin teen girl ankles didn't require all the lace, and there was plenty of excess: I dragged along almost a metre of cord (x4) as I ran around. You can imagine why I don't wonder why the phase didn't last long LOL And wow, all these teen memories your Phicens evoke! Tongue
Back to Toni, she looks younger than the rest of the ladies - her facial features also seem younger, and even a little shy.Is that something Monster High she is holding? The skull looks like MH, but I can't identify the exact piece.

I'm not sure if the jeans are Barbie or Bratz, but I was surprised by how well they worked.

I'm also "money-grubbing" (perfectly proper and accurate term to use here) when it comes to hobby things, and normally I would have tried to resell the head to recoup at least a fraction of the investment. In fact, that's why I've held on to it for as long as I have. But it just set me off the other night, so I tossed it. In to the fire! And I have no regrets about doing so.

I do have a number of unneeded items I'd like to sell, but as has been noted often here on the forum, eBay is becoming increasingly frustrating to use, and shipping costs are ruining the market for small, inexpensive items.

Good eye. The skull is a Monster High item, a finial from a Room to Howl bedpost.

26 February – Too Cold for a 'Polar Bear' Swim

Body: TBLeague S35A
Head: I don't remember, and you don't care, so we're good.

The swimsuits are included with many of the TBLeague bodies or figures. This one is a stretchy rubber-like material. Older sets had cloth swimsuits, but the tiny strings were almost impossible to tie.
