After seeing the messy-hair photo I posted of gNatalie (Smart Doll Kanata - Smiling Variant) yesterday, I decided to brush her hair. One of my New Year Resolutions for 2026 is to try to better manage (meaning: comb or brush once in a while) the hair of my dolls and action figures.

Then I took gNat outside for a photo, and the wind and dry-air static resulted in instant Frizzageddon.

Thus begins A Doll A Day 2026.

Oh, hey! Not only did I at least try to comb gNat's hair, I also snapped the pix using my DSLR camera! I am seriously out of practice with that camera. I need to review the manual, or even better, the book I purchased back when I bought the camera and which I've pretty much never looked at.

Quick refresher on how A Doll A Day works:

1. Take a picture of a doll or action figure (or a near-enough tangent) every day.
2. Post the new doll picture online every day.
3. If you're AFK (Away From Keyboard) from time to time, try to at least snap a picture each day and post upon your return.
4. Quality doesn't matter. The Doll A Day Challenge is about quantity and consistency, not quality.
5. If A Doll A Day seems intimidating, try for A Doll A Week or A Doll A Fortnight.
6. It's your project, it's your challenge, so they're your rules; feel free to improvise.
They're not dolls, they're action figures!

Waaaittt a minute... you have NO SNOW? How?????
Auwe. We got about a foot here. I will get a workout tomorrow, AGAIN, re-shovelling everywhere I shovelled tonight. Blaaah.
...I dunno, I thought Utah would have some snow in the depths of winter.

Anyway, she looks cool, and a few stray hairs isn't bad at all.

There's snow in the forecast beginning this coming Sunday, but so far the snowpack statewide is somewhat less than half of the annual average.

Monster High!
Monster High!
Monster High!
The party never dies!

Emily... and strange... are Eternal.

And A Doll A Day goes on forever!

A little cross-pollination happening here, featuring an Ashton-Drake Emily the Strange doll with an unbranded, unlicensed knock-off Monster High skullette logo quartz wristwatch on a "Bond-style" canvas strap.

Ah, I wondered about the hand before reading, as we don't usually see you.
She looks about to tell you off if you don't put her down LOL

Figma 098 Makise Kurisu Figure

.

Max Factory FIGMA No. 098 Makise Kurisu from the video game series Steins;Gate.

The figure stands about 12.5 cm (5 inches) tall and includes three face variations, two sets of arms (folded as shown and articulated), and several sets of hands in various positions.

(Don't ask me about the punctuation in the title; that's how it's written in the source material. I don't know why there's a semi-colon but no apostrophe and no spaces.)

Ha, agree about the attitude. Did you buy because you liked the video game, or just the figure?
Looking at that snowless landscape with great envy from -15C arctic depths.

I liked the looks of the figure. I bought one a dozen years ago and ended up selling it. Last year I was looking at some old pix on Flickr, and some other Figma pix, and decided to replace it. Now, of course, I'm already thinking of trying to sell it again, because how often am I going to use it? It's a totally different scale than everything else. Figma figures are fussy little things that fall apart easily yet are challenging to change out parts on, so overall I find the Figma experience to be somewhat frustrating.

There's s'posed to be snow here, but the statewide snowpack is only at 40% of average.

There are some single digit temps (on the F scale) in the forecast for later in the week, but the likelihood of snow has been downgraded.

Taking a Walk on the Wild Side

.

Windblown Weekender Sindy weaves her wet and wintery way through a treacherously tangled tetanus trap of rot and rust.

Because, hey, it's the weekend, and Weekender Sindy takes her weekends to the wild side!

Fun side note for doll photographers: Sindy is standing completely unaided, no hidden prop sticks or wires! Because Weekender Sindy rocks like that.

She definitely looks not-wintery. Cute shirt.

Hardly a Winter Wonderland

City Chic Sindy finds this rural slush that passes for snow underwhelming at best, and decidedly lacking in chic or charm.

Haha, yeah, she looks like she's wondering how much further to that soiree and if she's going to make it.
If you need more 'whelming' I would happily send you the foot of snow here, and the -20 lows that came with it Cry

Nah, you'd better keep what you have. According to "scientists," Canada on the whole is warming at twice the average global rate, with some parts of Canada warming at more than three times the average global rate. And "the science" is never wrong.
